SouthernCrescent1401.....You asked..."how is Pentecostal/holiness music played?" Back in the 50's I first heard Church of God music and decided to learn that style of playing (piano, organ). It is very complex; the best way to learn the style is to hear it played by classic musicians of that era. One basic chord formation involves playing the fifth and sixth degree of the scale together in chord formation. The more difficult part is in the rhythm and dynamics (loud/soft) of individual notes and chords. In other words, it takes a life time of LISTENING to your playing and conforming that sound to that of the classic sound. Happy practicing!

@sirm45 sirm...That is not me that you have been replying to. You have to look at the name to the left of the comment. But, to set the record straight,...we are pentecostal. We are not Church of God. We are in a holiness movement that is very similar to what the Church of God was fifty years ago. We still adhere to the holiness standards.

Forgive me, I thought that Jan was Church of God. I am Pentecostal and the experiences that I have seen is they just have a style that is led by the Spirit. Maybe you are not Pentecostal but you play as if you are led by the Spirit. This meaning, you add the extra keys, your are not choppy. You play a lot like our pianst at my church. I have Baptist friends and from other denominations, (not knocking them) but you just can't feel the Spirit. I was complimenting you. I was not downing you.
