there’s a catholic elementary and middle school within a few miles of my home that’s shutting down this year even though they got all the funds to stay open. How the Archdiocese is so careless about schools. just because they have 157 kids means the existence of the 400-500k doesn’t matter.

Well, it does matter because honestly, 400-500k isn’t enough to keep a private school open, take into account each teacher’s salary (plus benefits) and plus also of the other staff members’ and cost of electricity, maintenance etc. Years ago catholic schools could afford to function well with low tuitions as most teachers and other staff members were mostly made up of priests, nuns/sisters and other clerical folks who taught in catholic schools mainly for their clerical/religious orders, but then more non clerical people or lay people were needed to be hired as teachers and other staff, bring up much more the cost of running a school, plus that the catholic culture has changed dramatically through the years, affecting the catholic schools, as much more parents are opting to send their kids to just regular public or charter schools or homeschooling.

the diocese are corrupt and greedy lately. My catholic middle school was on the verge of shutting down, it had 400 students from pre-k-8. They got the tuition, the funding, but somehow there was always an excuse to shut it down. I always thought that everyone in the diocese had very pure and honest intentions, that was until when I went to my catholic high school where my history teacher was outed as a ped0phile when he accidentally airplayed CP on the board to my class. We told the administrators and the diocese hoping they would take care of it, but they called us liars, over dramatic, and dismissed our concerns by saying “we’ve known him for a long time, he wouldn’t do that. plus, all men whatch p0rn. i bet most of the guys in here have”. We had to go to the cops directly. My point is, they push the money they get into their pockets. I am still a devout catholic, but I will never trust the higher officials after that.

Lots of abandoned places in Detroit. The population went from 1.85 million in 1950 to 630k in 2020. All the people now mostly live in "metro" Detroit. But most abandoned places in or around detroit have been seriously scrapped or demolished. Also I just read an article saying Detroit's population grew for the first time this year since 1950. And they just had the record breaking NFL draft.

⁠i think it is pontiac catholic high school and yes its been closed Edit: The colours of the school(Gold,Forest green) matches with the colours in the basketball court so i think it is pontiac chs Edit2: they were the Distric champions of Chsl. Just google the 1977 champs and there are two school (96-97,97-98) and only one is closed and it was the pontiac chs

One thing I can say is never go to any abandoned locations alone, and also learn atleast a little about the places history to know whether you should go there or not. Like there may be a more dangerous reason that it is left alone abandoned.
