Unused Civil Protection Sounds (Half-Life: Alyx)

These were unused during gameplay. These are not all the sounds, but the download link is included in the description with all the new files. A lot are just re-recordings of the original Half-Life 2 sounds, but there are some new ones.

They definitely sound "less cool" than in HL2, but it makes more sense for the CPs to sound more generic than the Overwatch soldiers.

Seems to me these recordings were very early tests and got scrapped, they do sound more boring than the Half-Life 2 counterpart. Much easier to understand what they’re saying though.

The Civil Protection in Half-Life: Alyx lack the "Swagger" that the animators and voice actor gave to them in HL2, they feel a lot more wimpy in comparison to how they were built up and acted like in HL2

The Officers in HL2 were designed with the idea of them being like "Bullies", they went through several phases before the dev team were happy. The result was the chad stride the officers have today

I guess they're still more human, as it sets five years before the events from Half-Life 2. The same applies to commanders, as Russel calls the ones holding automatic weapons. It explains why their speech is more "human".

*Sigh.* CP were completely human in original HL2. This is how Barney was able to infiltrate them. And Barney himself said metrocops weren't conditioned or modified - just loyal to the Combine. Don't confuse them with soldiers.

I think the reason why these did get cut from the final game was because of them being basically re-recorded lines from HL2 there's even the line of "he's up there" even though you're playing as a female character, however I also wouldn't be surprised if these lines were to be in the final product but due to that one specific line it probably landed them in a bit of hot water with the press much like the school bus did back in L4D1's development.

I think it's safe to expect things to happen at this point.
