Katie, came across your channel via Mark Morris' shout-out for you. A great video, and I am a big fan of compilations and label sampler albums. I used to have 'Vision Shared' on CD, but long gone. Have subscribed and looking forward to checking out your videos. 😎🎶 Ed.

I must have tons of compilations but the ones I`m thinking of are from the 60`s or 70`s and not K-TEL. I recall as a young lad a comp with Barbara Streisand on it and I still have it (somewhere ). You have given` me some home work. Thanks a lot Katie.

I found the record, I cleaned the record, I played the record and wouldn`t you know it, it was the wrong disk, so disappointing. Back to treasure hunting.

You're spot on regarding John Denver. He's up there. Lucinda and Emmy Lou are testimony to this. Whatever Americana is, he assisted in defining it. Thanks for a lovely video. Its my first viewing.

Great collection. A few I want to keep my eyes open for now. I have a lot of compilations - my favorite genre is anything local (or kind of local). Especially indie stuff from small labels. A recent pick up that's not local to me but along the theme you had here is 'Root Damage' - which is a 2LP set of roots influenced bands. Really a good listen, especially if you want an energy boost.

Hi Katie, great video. A fellow Aussie here. I'm a new subscriber with my own channel and I found your channel by chance. I have quite a number of various artists albums. According to my CLZ Database there's 755 various artists LP's & CD's in my collection. All different types including soundtracks, label overviews, different series such as from Rhino, Raven and other labels, a lot of Motown comps as well. Compilations can be great or they can be a bit hit and miss as you say. I have the Bear Family "Complete Sun Singles" series which is 6 volumes of 4CD boxed sets. It gets a bit meh by volume 5. Such is the price of being a completist lol. I'll be sure to check out your other videos. Cheers 😊👍

For a twenty year span or so from the late 60's to the early 80's many labels, especially those owned by Warner made loss leader sampler albums. They sometimes have rare tracks, less obvious tracks by major artists and tracks by under appreciated artists, sort of an old school Underground FM aesthetic. Not all but many of Warners' were compiled by Barry "Dr. Demento" Hansen. There was a single artist compilation trend in the early 70's where artist had best ofs, often on double albums that were proto versions of their later box sets with classic hits rubbing shoulders with album tracks and rare songs.

@@ChromeDestiny thank you very much for that information. I didn’t know. Great keep an eye out for!

Katie, OMG! I love compilations! I haven't seen that "Vision Shared" in a long time. I have it on CD along with "The World Cafe" and the "Reservation." This brings back memories of me listening to the "The World Cafe" on the radio. I never knew about a John Denver compilation album or the one from Jason. This was so good. If I think of any I definitely will leave some suggestions. Great video! I love your channe.

In the '70s, Warner bros issues a huge series, along with other companies, loss leaders. These are inexpensive but have songs from new and established artists. These samplers are something to track down. WFUV (Fordham University) has done these for over 2 decades. The Band - the Last Waltz is a comp album as this is a who's who singing songs. The Concert for Bangladesh same. Bob Dylan- Bobfest celebrating him.

@@jimmccloskey4254 excellent examples. I have a few of the WFUV on CD- so great.
