Very mouthwatering Mike. The Bocadillo de Tortilla Española would be what I’d go for. I love Spanish omelette. My favourite sweet that I’ve ever had in Lanzarote was Bienmesabe. Had it a few times at the (now sadly gone) El Olivio restaurant above Playa Dorada. Wasn’t listed on the menu, but the waiter offered it to us. Absolutely delicious as you probably already know 👍🏼😊

The nicest one I've had is in Uga on the LZ 2, directly in front of the health centre. Unfortunately I don't remember the name. I will google it for you.

I can't find it. But if you drive through Uga in the direction of Playa Blanca it's on the left by the health centre and a football pitch.

Great ! It's a very substantial plate. A large salad, the periwinkle and tuna. Periwinkles are eaten in Ireland as a seaside summer treat. It was nice to find them in Lanzarote as a menu item.

If you wanted lapas, I would suggest to call the restaurant first before going there. Some restaurants may print it on their menu, some may not at all, but either way they may still have it and cook it for you. The seasonality of lapas I think is proof of how really fresh they are, to the level unlike other seafoods. Thank you Estrella del Charco in Arrecife for cooking such a delicacy for us!

Hi As a frequent visitor to Lanzarote, I pop over to 3 times a year in the winter and take advantage of the extremely low flights close to departure many times travelling from Birmingham. Cheaters as €20. I’ve booked it again this weekend Land on Saturday so I’m a regular viewer of your channel, I was particularly interested in some of the local dishes you talked about in the last episode whoever I can not say I have seen the dishes on the restaurant menus that I visited, so if you could recommend some restaurants where they specialise in local dishes, particularly the ell dish, I’m interested in i’m stopping in the Capital, so if the one in that area, that you can recommend, keep up the good work
@LanzaroteInformationКүн бұрын
You’ll get many of them at the restaurants in Arrecife, around Charco San Ginés. My favourite for the eel dish is Restaurante El Risco in Famara. You’ll only find rabbit during the hunting season August to October, the best we’ve had was in la Villa de Teguise. Lapas at any good fishing village. The thing to bear in mind is that many of these things are only available fresh, so they may not be on the menu, but either on the specials board, or in the specials the waiting staff tell you about when you arrive. The lapas, for example are only available when some have been caught. I’d suggest keeping a list of the ones you’d like to try, and asking the question: “¿hay moreno, hoy?” for example. (Is there moray eel today?)

Random Question, have you noticed this anti tourist vibe in Lanzarote that seems to be trending on the mainland?
@LanzaroteInformationКүн бұрын
Not really. There isn’t an anti tourist vibe here. There’s some frustration at us having what many feel is too much tourism for the size of the island.

Goat meat stew or Carne de Cabra is my favourite canarian dish but the quality of the meat and the seasoning of the sauce does vary from place to place. I must disagree with you, but goat has a less pronumced flavour than lamb and is closer to beef stew. Hence, it's ideal for those who may find lamb too overpowering. Another common healthy side dish is chickpeas (Garbanzos) or white beans (Fabadas) in a tomato based stew . Typical for Spanish cuisine they usually add small pieces of pork or chorizo for added flavour - this nullifies a dish that would be suitable for vegetarians!
