Thank you for taking the time to make another quality video review Shane! Just to address some of the points brought up in the video for the viewers. The lume on the hands, as well as the bezel action will be corrected for the production. For additional features, we will be looking into producing the Osimiri on a milled clasp provided it could be offered in titanium. By popular demand we will also explore additional colour options such as Teal/Aquamarine. Please feel free to visit our website at www.fanoswatches.com, sign up and ask any questions you may have :) We are currently aiming to launch the Kickstarter at the beginning of 2021. Thanks for watching!

You have a good thing going on there. Especially if you make the adjustments needed (the hands lume goes without saying). I'd also suggest to explore the possibility of making an orange dial one with a titanium bezel. It is really difficult to find a good orange dial diver with a bezel from the same material as the case/bracelet. They always put black ceramic on them. It gets very boring. Doxa has such divers, but they are at another price category. I'd also put some kind of a frame around the date window. Maybe a protruding white one, so that it becomes one with the indices. Date windows that are like cut-out holes make a watch look cheaper imho. Good luck with your campaign...

It’s essentially a Pelagos for folks that don’t want to spend $4k. They’ve done just enough to differentiate it so it’s not a pure copy. Not bad, I guess. I love my Pelagos but it’s definitely big and monochrome. I only wear it for outdoor activities like climbing, sailing, etc. It’s too big to be an everyday watch in my opinion although the unique adjustable clasp, which this lacks, makes it wear very comfortably. Thanks for showing it to us. I wish the brand owners well.

Man, this is one of the best designed I've seen here in months! The OCD in me always dislikes having the date at the 4, it just looks more balanced at the 6. Titanium is great! A bit of space between the case and pins is awesome if you like thicker NATO or ZULU straps (which I do). 500M of water, a great movement, overall just excellent. Presumably they'll touch up the lume and the bezel ring before it goes to market. If it had tritium I'd absolutely get in on the kickstarter.👍

Thanks Shane! Very interesting review! I had a Tudor Pelagos 2 liner for many years. The spring adjustment on that clasp was amazing. I honestly felt that it was on the small side for a diver, although I did love it. Seeing this Fanos really struck a chord with me. I hope they do something about the pressed clasp and maybe the handset--although I could live with both depending on the price. I’m definitely interested.

Thanks. Out of curiosity, what made you get rid of the Pelagos?
@robertcox28573 жыл бұрын
@@RelativeTime I remember thinking at the time that I'd be able to sell the two liner black Pelagos and buy a pre-owned four liner blue Pelagos for close to the same price if I was patient. Obviously the four-liner has the 70-hour power reserve so that was very appealing to me. Unfortunately I never really found the four liner at the exact right time/price so it's still a hole in the collection. Now that this Fanos is on the horizon I'm heavily inclined to go this way and save the few thousand dollars...yet my ultimate goal is probably to have that blue Pelagos with the 70 hour power reserve...

Nice design, nice dial/bezel details, nice chapter ring with the indexes coming out of, but a shame : - Overkill specs, don't see the point of the 500m wr and helium escape valve. - way too thick and to big, they are using a mouvement that would allow a 40mm diameter, shorter L2L and 12.5mm thickness. - missing drilled lugs Would have been a great to have that dial in a smaller package. I see we have the same kind of feelings about this watch.

i realy dig this no nonsense design of the watch. everything looks to be designed with the usage in mind first and refining the the details after. that is, what real minimalism realy should be: form follows function. ok, 500 meter water resistance and helium escape valve is pure overkill for every normal use scenario, but overall.. i realy like the puristic straight forward tool design of this watch.

I really like this watch, especially like the way the indices are integrated into the chapter ring and how the date complication is designed. However, it gets increasingly hard for new microbrands to successfully launch their watches on Kickstarter. They'd better have chosen a Miyota 9015 and made it a slightly slimmer 300 m diver rather than a 500 m which no one really needs, they could have offered it at a better price. Cheers 👍

@@RelativeTime As I do love the Tudor pelagos it would have made this watch even more appealing for me if it was slightly slimmer (and maybe slightly more affordable). I could get a watch with a hint of the Pelagos's aesthetics and yet it would be enough water resistant for my needs.

I really like the aesthetics of the piece. I feel like the "Pelagos," comparison hit the nail right on the head. IMO, I honestly think they would've been better to lose the ETA, and replace it with (as you said) the Miyota 9015. Collectors as a whole, revere the Miyota 9000 series. Plus Fanos can then use the savings from the movement swap, to out fit this model with a better quality clasp, and closure. Which I feel at this price range, is slightly subpar. Shane, you really do produce some interesting, and quality content, that is very engaging. I really enjoy watching each episode. Please keep up the good work. I'm definitely a fan of the channel....

Like the design. Reminds me a bit on Pelagos. If the price stays low as said this is must have watch. Like the watches that are tool watches. Robust, something you can take out. Don't need super slick thin brittle Cartier etc but a watch that goes almost everywhere with me. Sapphire is nice Titanium is even better. The metal bracelet is must and the helium valve is nice but could go without. To bring costs down I would build one case without valve and with 30ATM water proof. The dial and markings are awesome. The Rolex style back case is soemthing I do not like. Really. Would be better fith plane screwback case with engraved logo something similar that does Seiko. I love this watch. Nice video.

That was a very fair, comprehensive review. The watch is not terribly interesting, although I like the 6 o'clock date and the rubber strap looked good.
@robertarthur35323 жыл бұрын
That's why I love your videos Shane, you cover watches over a broader range from tool watches to polished and in everything in between. This did get my attention because I'm saving for a Pelagos currently. I do like how this has the date as well at the 6, but the build quality is definitely lacking some. This is the kind of watch that will attract a certain kind of owner. I dig the completely tool design because its not meant for flare and wants to blend into the background. Sometimes that's most desirable. Lastly I'd love to see more companies doing things with Grade 1 titanium, like the Hamilton military H705650 has as I think the patina that develops on that kind of titanium is so cool.

Very nice looking watch. Tuxedo Diver. Great alternative to Tudor. However. Thin case would be great to take full advantage of the ETA. Your using Ti so make the case thin, sacrifice the extra 300m WR. Toss He release and put the money into trimming down the case. The indices and handset are perfect and hold their own. Make sure the lume is concentrated and even. Knurled crown would make the watch more realistic tool. The keyed crown is kind of overstep into luxury. Reference the thinness of the Glycine Combat Sub. Thick watches are just not ergonomic or optimum function.

I own a Zelos Swordfish TI, and struggle with the lack of weight. I know weight doesn't mean quality, but my brain struggles to believe it. I am not particularly keen on the slab shape, and the dials is perhaps a little plain. I would like to know where they got the ETA movement from, and suspect it may actually be a Sellita. A pressed clasp, what were they thinking of? As usual good review

I totally agree. I prefer my 42mm v2 steel swordfish to my titanium. My brain tells me it is better quality because it’s heavier, and steel has a better lustre, especially in the flat linked bracelet of the swordfish. It’s my favourite bracelet.
@fanoswatches36323 жыл бұрын
Hello Simon, I fully agree on the the deceiving feel of titanium. The movement is indeed an ETA as we have a supplier that can provide them in smaller quantities, but depending on interest in the final product (I.e. including a milled clasp), we may revert to Sellita if it translates to a lower overall price for buyers. @RelativeTime3 жыл бұрын
I think it's been restricted, but not completely cut off. Not entirely sure, the story seems to keep changing with that. Although that brings up another good point. Just because they used it in the prototype, doesn't mean they will be able to easily secure enough for production.

@@RelativeTime Exactly. A new KS microbrand fitting their titanium watches with ETAs for $500 +/-... It doesn't add up.

Swatch is reducing quantity over time. This means micro-brands who sell fewer units are able to get their orders fulfilled while someone like Oris selling millions of watches would not be. Keep an eye out, until the complete cut-off happens, I'll bet you fewer and fewer big brands will be able to source ETA movements, and by the end it'll be almost purely microbrands.
