On May 9th, we inaugurated our 77MW Espiga solar portfolio, our largest Spanish project, in Valladolid, northwest Spain.
The five solar plants in Medina de Rioseco, Portillo, Aldemayor de San Martín, and Medina del Campo now power over 50,000 homes and remove 30,000 metric tons of CO2 annually.
Acquired by Sonnedix in 2021 and built by EPC Ríos Renovables, these 77MW plants started operating in July 2023. They have a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Endesa to supply green, affordable energy.
As we celebrate our 15th anniversary, this milestone highlights our exceptional growth in Spain since our first plant in 2009. With over 800MW operational, 300MW in construction, and 300MW in development, we remain Spain's largest solar PV player.
The team was delighted to be joined by representatives of its key partners for the project: Ríos Renovables, Endesa, our lenders - Natixis Investment Managers, ABANCA, Watson Farley & Williams, #Bonholders & Linklaters - and representatives from local government, including Guzmán Gomez Alonso, Mayor of Medina del Campo (Valladolid) and Marceliano Herrero Sinovas, Head of the Territorial Department for Industry, Commerce, and Economy of the Castilla y León Regional Government.
