I’ve worked in a Bernina dealership for 10 years, the past 2 BERNINA Universities we have had the JOY of hearing Debbie C’s story of how the BERNINA hook is produced. I love sharing her story with customers and now this video that shows what quality goes into it and this is what sets BERNINA apart. The Swiss precision. We would love more factory videos!! I love sharing the love of BERNINA with customers and this makes me and them proud of being apart of the BERNINA family. Great job on the 990! Never heard so many “Wow’s” and “Woah’s” in a room full of dealers. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

Thank you very much for your kind words. Yes, it's true, videos like this show how much heart and soul and technical precision work goes into a BERNINA. We hope that we will be able to share more such insights with you in the future. But the history of BERNINA is also shaped by people like you, who show us so much love and help us to grow in the sewing community. So THANK YOU!

As someone who worked for BERNINA in Steckborn in the RND department back when we "made" the Model 1130 a lot has changed in terms of layout in the working space. The great part is that even back then we had a climate-controlled "fridge" where we "froze" the machine and tested the life of it. So it is great to see that some testing is still the same. I am not excited about the new "look". All the past BERNINA models had a "timeless" look. You were able to spot a BERNINA from any angle across the room. Now the 990 looks like a low-end Singer machine where everything is round. Thanks, BERNINA for keeping the width and length buttons!!! It was always an argument I used as a dealer to show an "old" BERNINA user that the new machine has the most important functions still in the same place!!!

I remember touring the factory in 1993 when they were still making the 1130. I purchased mine in 1987 and taught a few classes for my dealer. I was happy that my husband was fluent in German. He and the chief engineer really enjoyed discussing the machines and the assembly line. Glen, being an engineer was familiar with the machines that preceded the home sewing machines. I was impressed with the workmanship and dedication right down to the person applying the label at the end of the line.

Thanks ,Gregor, for your feedback and for being part of the BERNINA family! Yes, a lot has changed since the 90s, but a lot has also remained the same, including the climate testing (although we need a larger "fridge" now 😊). Continuity is important for BERNINA. This applies to the layout of the buttons and knobs, the position of the screen and hence the use of the machine, and it also applies to the design. Compared to the straight lines of the artista series, the recent machines were already rounder. This development was continued with the B 990, also due to its enormous size. Yes, other brands also have round machines, but fortunately it is quite easy to distinguish the B 990 from an entry-level Singer ...

@@BerninaInternational Thank you BERNINA for your reply! I had to kick some "tires" about the design. It would not be a new design if it were all perfect.

Absolutely exquisite machine, thank you for listening to what people want and need. The long years that were spent crafting this beauty are appreciated, all of the Bernina staff must be so very proud 💙🌺💎 PS Just one little thing, I would like to ask for the luggage to be made in that gorgeous blue that you used on the brooch at some point.

Many thanks for your kind words 😘😘, your feedback means a lot to us. The luggage system for the B 990 has already been produced. The trolleys and bags have a light grey or silver color. I'm afraid this will not change ...

Love the technical details and view of the insides of the machine and your factory. Would love to see more about the actual hardware and software development process but ofc parts of that are company secret.

Thank you for the comment and for your interest. BERNINA's entire R&D department is located here at our headquarters in Steckborn. There is a large team dedicated solely to the - increasingly important - software development topic. In the video we only show a very small part of R&D. The rest must remain secret. We ask for your understanding.

How do you use free arm for t shirts
@BerninaInternational4 ай бұрын
Hi there, thanks for asking. The embroidery module and the slide-on table can easily be removed from the BERNINA 990. This will make it possible to sew on tubular items such as sleeves, trouser legs etc. using the free arm of the machine.

Thank you very much Bernina for investing the time to make machines that are not only amazing, yet also make it easier for those with physical challenges such as arthritis to continue creating. You are the only company that I know of that has put the time and effort into this important aspect of staying creative and being able to sew/quilt 🤗❣️ What a beautiful machine-it truly is a work of art 😍 it’s a major leap forward for those who are blessed enough to be able to afford the cost of an amazing machine such as this. Congratulations to all those who were blessed enough to become charter members-enjoy your “big new day” when it arrives 🥳 However, as an older disabled person on a fixed income I can only sit back watch in amazement while I drool a bit and dream, because I know how much a machine of this caliber would improve the ease and quality of creative work. In the end I am beyond blessed to have been able in March 2023 to get a beautiful Bernina machine whose name is Pheniox-she is also is a thing of beauty and she has not only expanded my ability to create, yet also given “wings” to my creativity. Thank you again for your passion and dedication to not only your craft, but also for your customers ❣️

Dear Joanna, thank you very much for your lovely comment. Reading such a feedback from a person who profoundly knows what it's like to overcome physical challenges while creating feels really good! Accessibility is high on the agenda at BERNINA and is also taken into account in product development. We know that there are many people with disabilities who appreciate our products, and we want it to stay that way. We are all the more pleased with your kind words, so thank you, thank you, thank you!

All of the buttons are on the right. I am left handed. The learning curve is a little steeper. I have owned Berninas since 1974, currently a 475, 590, and an 880. Not sure I want to start the process of learning all over again.
@gregorsidler39626 ай бұрын
What are you talking about? The layout on the machine is the same as your 590, 475, or even the 880!! All the buttons are in the same place as it was with your 1974 Bernina!

С 1974 года можно было бы научиться нажимать кнопки правой рукой. Просто скажите, что вам не хватает денег на новую машину. И не надо злиться. Всем нам не хватает денег на это чудо техники. У нас есть более важные статьи расходов.

@@gregorsidler3962 , I am looking at my 880, the 6 buttons are on left, easy for me , the reverse is on the right along with the sew button.

Are we being selfish? It's the same as always!
@BerninaInternational6 ай бұрын
Dear @woodsew, thanks for your feedback. We did not change the basic layout of the machine buttons compared to our other current machine series. On the contrary, we think that with the centrally placed huge touch screen which can be operated with touch gestures, this machine is well suited for people that are left-handed. As a matter of fact, many people working at BI in Steckborn who have tested the B 990 are "lefties". I am one of them 😊. The best thing to do is to simply try it out. Please contact your BERNINA dealer to schedule a visit and test drive the machine!
