Unversal Winch Solenoid WIring

Quick demo on how to wire up the cheap universal 500 amp winch solenoids that can be found on Ebay and Amazon. Installed with a Smittybilt XRC8 in this case.

Well, best video I could find. My long red and short red were in different spots but still the winch won't work. Plug in the remote and nothing. I wonder if there is a reset somewhere or a fuse. This winch is brand spanking new, never used but sat on the trailer it was mounted for years. The plastic zip tie that holds the cable end was still on it. The steel cable was still on the reel like it was new. I just can't get it to work.... Is there a way I can take all cables off all leads and then jump it with jumper cables a certain way to see the winch go in and out to prove or bench test and show the winch works or doesn't? Tks ZXR 9000

i plug everything as shown, it works ok, but the relay comes very hot, i unplug it, is it normal, is it dangerous to get un fire?

On the winch motor? It does not. If the two leads are reversed, the winch will just run the opposite way.

My Warn controller on a M8000 has 5 wires, not 3, would you know how to wire that?

It's just a Stinger battery isolator that's usually used for car audio. No fuse in the system currently. When the isolator is energized, it's a direct hookup to the battery via 2 gauge wires.
