I doubt it. I noticed that he doesn't scream when he wins "net" or "edge" points.

@@pierreb2320 That's a different matter. He is properly humble for those points. That said, it's not uncommon for opponents to celebrate opponents' unforced errors, except for, say, whiffing the ball entirely.

Occasionally I have made a sound when thinking my shot has gone long for the ball to hit and the rally continue. I have always asked the opponent if they want to have the point afterward. It is difficult to control your automatic reaction!

After their close first match that Ma Long won only after many deuces, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran acted obnoxiously as if he was an equal who could have beaten Ma Long. ML was then provoked into giving him an 11-0 lesson.

Rule #6 sounds strange to me. Maybe it varies across cultures and levels, but in Hungary (at least in local leagues) it is expected of you to say "Stop" if your ball goes in another court. No one will get mad at you (or shouldn't), it is a custom. And the reason is not to get your ball back asap, but to avoid such situations where your ball might disturb one player at the other table - it's just more clean this way. Actually, there are players, who get angry at you if you don't say stop.

Mercy point? No way. If I am losing 0-10 I do not want a "Mercy"" point. I feel it is more disrespectful to your opponent to give a charity point as trying to lose is in no way in the spirit of competition. And don't forget ITTF rule No 69 B part 1 and I quote, ""If a player loses 0-11 they must drop their pants and run around the table with their pants around their ankles".

I think a netted ball has to wait for the umpire to call. Not for the player to decide. Often during receiving serve, nervous player would just grab the ball or call for a netted if it was too difficult to receive the ball or not able to receive the serve or start seeing net when it was not a netted ball.

In most matches with n with an umpire only the server and the umpire can call a let and have it automatically be a let, in that case if the receiver calls a let and doesn’t return it, and the umpire and server don’t agree with them, it’s usually just a lost point

Don't rush between points! That's more of a guideline than an actual rule. -Alexis Lebrun probably.... But fr though, Alexis needs to slow tf down. It's annoying to see when he does it and he has the audacity to look offended when they call let because his opponent isn't ready yet.

Most of the time, but there have been games where players knew how he serves then come in and call at least one let per serve just to throw him off

@@TableTablewithDov Well if the umpire is letting it go without raising a warning or a card then the bulk of this weight falls on Alexis' shoulders to adjust in a way that he doesn't get thrown off his rhythm.

@@rooky3526mostly, but I saw this one match where he was standing ready but after alexi hit the ball but before the serve hit his side of the table he would quickly like lean down to tie his shoes or something, and there isn’t anything that alexi can do about that, and any player would get thrown off(the ump did eventually reprimand the player)

@@TableTablewithDov Well in that case, that's a justified call and this applies to not only Alexis, but to other players as well. That's just bad sportsmanship. What we're talking about is Alexis' problem in his inability to wait for his opponent to get ready.

I'm a serious offender of Chole'ing at service errors, well, me and my buddies. We do it as a way to encourage our circle of players to get better and to also have a laugh. Of course, just cause this is the internet, no one is offended by this. I felt as if I needed to put that disclaimer there lest some stranger takes it the wrong way. We are all adults and this has been a running inside joke in our circle. But of couse when exercise proper etiquette when we play in tournaments.

A mercy point was very rare before the Chinese players started to do regularly around 2000. I suspect the Chinese TT team made unwritten rules about it and the players had to obey. However other countries have made critics against to force it instead of the part of personal sportsmanship. It seems to disappear at the WTTC 2019 when Liu Shiwen beat Ding Ning at the fifth game 11-0 in the semi-final. Other players of the World have followed and the rule(?) seems to be gone. I am a TT player and always wonder why such unwritten rules exist. You are not responsible for the net or the edge. It just happen and is the part of the game (or life?). If you can make the net or the edge intentionally, that's your skill and no reason to apologize exactly the same as the various services. If you don't intend to do that, probably this is the case, you have no reason to apologize. That's the part of the game and that's why the game is interesting and exciting. Those coincidences make the game more real like our lives. The life is full of surprises some are lucky and some are not. The TT game should stay that way.

If it ain't written, it ain't a rule. If it's important enough for the game, then it should be documented in the official rule book.

Clearly, you haven't ever played sports at a high level. There's something called "sportsmanship", and with every sport there's a certain etiquette you're expected to exhibit. These are the ones for Table Tennis. It is a gentleman's and gentlewoman's sport. If you don't like that, then you don't have to play. Now, you don't HAVE TO show good sportsmanship, if you don't want to. However, this is not the attitude you want to have in life. Trust me. Plus, it used to be that sportsmanship was the very first thing you were taught to exhibit and to value more than anything else. That's for a reason. Learning to respect your opponents, the officials, ane the game builds character in you and it teaches you how to win and how to lose with class. This goes much further than sports and it teaches you to be a much better person in life.

😂I honestly cannot tell whether you are joking but in case you aren’t: Cho is an exclamation of victory short for either Chole or haocho depending on who you ask
