That 4014 locomotive is massive! What an incredibly awesome looking piece of machine! No body does it like the U.S of A....respects!

Thanks for recording this historic event for those of us among the expats of the Chicago area.

Great Video of the run-bys! I liked the Elmhurst run-by. I took two of my Grandchildren to West Chicago on 27 July 2019 to see Big Boy. We had a great time looking at the engine and seeing the Union Pacific Experience exhibit.

I was at the County S crossing in Kenosha, WI, about 1.5 miles north of where you started the video. She was awe inspiring to see in person and feel the ground shake when she went by at a good clip (speed). I wish I can relive that day over and over again. Loved it

2:35 Kind of reminds me of the old 1950's video of the Bigboy....except the diesel of course.

Why do they always have a diesel unit behind it? Can't the big boy do it by itself?
@sailingmylifeaway5 жыл бұрын
The diesel electric is providing electricity to all those passenger cars. Big boy produces no electricity. It was hauling freight back in the day. Actually, this train is quite light and small for an engine as massive as Big Boy.

Does the diesel also provide dynamic braking if needed?

How does the engine refuel itself along the route? Are there coal stations along the route?
