***UPDATE...I am sad to inform everyone that enjoyed watching Lacey the squirrel videos know that she passed away. She became ill and came home to spend the night inside the house as she did when she was small. Lacey died in my arms early the next morning. (raccoon roundworm) ***Lovelace the Entertaining Squirrel....She can eat nuts, give her mouth a good washing at record speed afterwards, give passing cat the meanest evil eye she can muster, then captivates us with her unique ability to stack 2 almonds in her mouth.

david denis Thank you so much! I found her as a baby in the middle of the road at night being chased by a cat. That was 3 years ago and she stops by to see me everyday! I sure do love her!

david denis Funny you should say that, David. I thought she was a boy for the longest time. The website I pulled up to learn how to tell the sex of a young squirrel was wrong! So wrong! I'm lucky I didn't cause her to be confused about her identity.

She was a cuddly little girl. She was obviously devastated when she lost her birth mother. No question about it, she looked at me as a second shot at having a mother. She was determined not to lose another momma. On some of our first trips outside, I could see how fast and hard her heart would beat just at the thought of losing me. It was truly heart breaking. I had several people tell me that many young squirrels would turn on their adopted human parents when they reached 6 months old. That's why I tried to put a little distance between us but every time i tried to this, the fear that would come over my little squirrel was too much for me to watch and I promised to never turn my back on her. Thankfully it worked for us. She never tried to hurt me. I believe she loved me as much as I loved her . Thank you for watching her videos!

squrrels can live for 20 yrs as pets and only 2yrs or less in the wild...like cats and dogs... hope you be bless with another.

Thank you Jackie. If there's another baby squirrel that lost her way from her home and momma, it would be my pleasure to take him or her in. Taking care of Lovelace the baby squirrel was very rewarding. When she contracted raccoon roundworm, Lovelace came home and tried to climb in my kitchen window looking for me. I took her in and she died in my arms the next morning. I miss her terribly.

I live in the southern part of Indiana. There's a lot of squirrels in the neighborhood that I live in. So it wasn't surprising when I saw a cat hovering over Lovelace "Lacey" the baby squirrel nearly 3 years ago. Of course I couldn't walk away. I scooped her up in a big Tupperware bowl, put in the back of my truck and drove her to safety. She didn't move from her heating pad, eat or drink water for nearly 3 days. I didn't think she would make it. She turned out to be the most entertaining, sweet and lovable squirrel I could ever imagine. She chose to live outdoors like a regular squirrel (with lots of nutty perks) when she got older. She would jump from the fence onto my shoulder whether I knew she was ready to make her leap or not. She did this several times a day and I always had plenty of nuts ready for her. Nearly three years passed and one evening Lacey came to the back porch and tried to climb to the window because she wanted to come in. I knew something was terribly wrong and as much as I hated it, I was right. I had seen raccoons on a couple occasions but I didn't know what a threat their waste was to squirrels. Lovelace died as I held her the next morning of Baylisascaris Procyonis.

She was a very pretty squirrel. I rescued her from the middle of road with a cat hovering over her when she was a baby. She lived a happy life for the next 3+ years. Had many babies of her own. Unfortunately she died of raccoon roundworm.

@@Shaharalyn1977 oh, I see. Sad. When Lovelace decided she wanted to be an outside squirrel nearly full time, I was disappointed. I knew it would probably shorten her life. But I had to let her do what she wanted to do to. Like Alfalfa used to say in the old 1930s "Our Gang" reels... I'm sorry Spanky, but I have to live my own life. (If anyone knows what I'm talking about, I'd be surprised)
