Per request, I have made a sewing tutorial the up-cycled dog food bags that I use all the time. This is my first official tutorial so don't expect it to be fantastic. Ha ha!

PS Do you hav videos for 20 lb pet food bags?
@TheOmerta925 Жыл бұрын
@@zandraszamora3296 would that be larger or smaller than the one I made in this video? Can't say I've noticed how many lbs of dog food there are.. I don't have a dog. I was given the empty dog food bags.

Thx Rodrigo, my bags r smaller. I have 2 dogs, 2 cats & feed birds, so have a few smaller bags. Thanks again for your video.

I made a couple of these a few years ago, and I'm BACK to get the refresher. I have quite a few bags ready to sew up. Been using these at Aldi's, I really like them for bagging up the heavy stuff because they're so strong. I drop a piece of cardboard box cut to fit as the 'floor' of the bag, and I put short handles along the SIDES of shallow wide bags so it's carried like a weightless basket. They're all really great. I like your tutorial the best of all the ones I've watched on how to make one.

Thanks for the kind words and sorry for the late response! Shorter handles is a great modification! I made a bag for my mom once and she immediately cut the handle and re-sewed it to make the handles shorter. Ha.

@@TheOmerta925 I am back AGAIN. I love your tutorial, this bag is my favorite way to make what I need. I had to skip over a lot of other videos to find you again on this device, BUT I DID 😃👍

Thanks again for finding this video. I haven't made one of these bags in a long time. It might be time to make more soon. So cool that this has helped. What kinds of things do you sew primarily?

@@TheOmerta925 Mostly practical items really. GrowBags, table napkins, table cloths, SleepMasks, pouches of rice as moisture absorbers (I dry mint for tea), neck warmers from old sweaters lol And of course, SHOPPING BAGS for groceries!

@@lobodo988 very cool! Sewing is a great skill to know for sure! I need to get back into it. I havent done much with my thread injector lately. Let's both make a new grocery bag and share the results! 😊

Try putting a piece of tracing paper (or printer paper) under the plastic before you sew. The paper gives a little traction on the metal...peel the paper away after you stitch. :) Great project!

Thank you! Exactly what I was looking for...been saving the bags since our St. BerMasiff was a pup (now I am saving 50 pound bags!) and I want to make them for the local shelter. Awesome instructions! :)

You could use a walking foot, presser foot. It may keep it from slipping.

Cute. Too bad I don't know how to use a sewing machine. Wish you could use my dog food bag because it has a pretty strong velcro zip top .

Hi! Do you use a special needle? I have lots of big dog food bags. I need to do this, sell, then donate cash to our dog shelter in Cibolo, TX!
@TheOmerta9254 жыл бұрын
I didn't use a special needle, just a normal sharp needle. But I do replace it often. Thanks for watching.
