Alma is definitely different. Ms. Deutscher has written so many different versions of her opera Cinderella, and has gone into extreme details in each. Could it be that Alma has a constant compulsion to improvise, even music written by herself?

Early classical composers sketched their music and allowed a measure of free interpretation within the guidelines. I interpret the many versions as learning from this without copying it But only Alma can say for certain.

Yes Alma, I am excited. Wonderful how works are developing. Each version great in its own right, but exciting for who is already familiar with your work. I remember an impressive viola sonata that became part of your violin concerto. Here I am very impressed by the duet between muse and singer. And I of course have to think about Mephisto in Berlioz's Faust, haha, the haunting viola. Well, this is more an angel whispering the notes in the ear of the composer. Thanks for your inventiveness. Alma's Cinderella is a talented composer used as a slave by her evil stepmother and stepdaughters, never having the opportunity to show her gifts. Alma represents Cinderella's muse in this scene. In Alma's retelling of the famous story, the prince is a poet; Cinderella reads a poem written by him, loves it and sets it to music; and the lovers find each other through their shared artistic souls. The original version is a delightful comic opera. If Alma has succeeded in improving it, it will definitely be well worth going out of your way to see.

Alma may I suggest that as in "fiddler on the roof" you maintain that metaphorical distance from the narrative of the play. In other words stay on the visual roof! I very much like the idea so long as you stay on the metaphorically speaking "roof". It will truly bring much more of an artistic and romantic feel to your efforts.
