A travelogue type story. Shots of banks; river and the boat itself - the overstolz (not all shots described here). Many different boats and ships on river: barges; tugboats; small sailing boats; passenger excursion ships. The ship from which cameramen is filming one of these. Shots of passengers boarding and sitting at tables; looking at sights. Officers standing on deck. Sailors working. Also shots of parts of boat - C/U anchor; rudder going through water; etc.
Medieval castles; villages & cities; hillside vineyards; church towers; a lovely park by riverbank w/ flowers; benches. Ships seem to be flying both 3-stripe flag & another w/ (nazi) swastika. 3 German girls chatting on boat in nearly identical clothing; one w/ little embroidered bonnet - Bavarian (?) traditional dress. More scenic shots. Town w/ large grand houses; cultivated land rising steeply in background. Closer shot of castle on high hill. Another going past hill.
Ship's captain at wheel. A few elderly men & women look out windows on enclosed lower deck. More schloss; terraced vineyards. Stone fort / tower on island near bank. Closer same; w/ rowing boat passing. Castle ruins - ehrenfels schloss; 13th century. From land: looking out over trees; town lies beyond. Street scene: shops w/ awnings. Large white building w/ dome; pillars; fountain in front - government building?
