Chris's boat looks fantastic. I have been up and down that part of the river for the past 30 years unknown amounts of times operating a ferry of my own and working on some of the better known ferries over the years. I have never been on Herring Island, only to and past many times.

Hi Ttim, yes, "Teale " is a mighty fine craft, perfect for that sort of expedition. I still think engines are cheating a bit, but I can understand the attraction :) It was my first time setting foot on Herring Island, something I have been wanting to do since I was about 5 years old and one of my brothers went there on a scout camp. A nice spot.

Gary, your music choices are always so in tune with the mode of travel. There is much more to see further up the Yarra. You're allowed to motor up to the Johnson St bridge . After that its a bit rocky and swirly. Some interesting creatures up that way. Never get there in a windboat , the banks get quite steep and block any breezes and there can be lotrs of backwinds swirling thru the trees.

Thanks Roman. Going up the Yarra is an interesting trip alright. When I have a boat that I can put an engine on, I will plan another trip.

Yes, it is a nice ride ok. Once the 20hp Tohastu is run in, all we will see is a distant speck vanishing over the horizon. Plenty of floor space, be great for boat camping. A trip down the Murray would suit it very nicely. But I still like the game of sailing, engines are too easy!

Hi Gary, you know I properly been under those Bridges about 10,000 times. Any way if you have a VHF Radio you can listen to the ferry on ch 74 or even call then up. But only from the Bolte Bridge in. Any way if you do decide to do a trip let me know and see if I can get the Dolphin ready to motor up the river with you guys.

😀 I agree Khiem! But no dogs allowed on Herring Island, and I was crew on a brand new boat. Ozzie has form scratching shiny new decks.
