Up Up & Away FULL *Uncut* Ride Through! | Perfect Day at CocoCay Helium Balloon Experience!

What a ride! We are at Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s private island destination! In this video we are riding a special attraction Perfect Day at CocoCay offers, the Up Up & Away Helium Balloon experience! You may have seen some of our ride in our 'Perfect Day at CocoCay video' (we'll put the link below), but what makes this video special is that this is the unedited version! This is the uncut FULL ride through of the Up Up & Away Helium Balloon! We wanted to include this video incase you wanted to get an idea of the length of this excursion and the procedures going up and down on the balloon. Our balloon pilot also narrated our ride with a lot of very interesting information that we wanted to share with you! This excursion is approximately 10 minutes long from take off to landing and is an extra cost (not included in your cruise fare). Our ride was on a fairly windy day, so we only ascended a little over 200 ft in the air, where as on a mild day the balloon can travel up to 450 ft high! Our pilot did inform us, because the island is typically windy, it is common for the height to be adjusted. Even though we were not as high as possible, holy moly was the view breath taking! You can see absolutely everything on the island as well as your cruise ship and miles of beautiful Bahamian water! Matt even saw a shark or stingray (or some kind of aquatic life)! Lol 31 years ago on my honeymoon our cruise ship Emerald Seas had a day on Coco Cay. It was just a lovely beach, relaxing hammocks, they put on a huge bbq party with tiki bar and Hawaiian type dance entertainment. It was just a lazy relaxing beach day with royalty treatment WOW things change not sure it is for the better . While amazing I am sure it was just nice to have a day fit into the schedule where you basically had to relax and just enjoy.

Was it hard to stay steady on your feet or did it jerk and become difficult?

Hi Wallach! Thanks for watching! Overall, it was pretty easy. During takeoff and landing it was a bit bumpy, but it swayed more than it jerked. There’s a handrail all the way around, so that really helps! :) Happy Travels!

Hi GSD! Thanks for watching! When we went, it was a very windy day. In order to move around the platform, we would’ve needed to move in unison with the other couple onboard, so we all just decided to stay put. However, you can really see all around you from wherever you stand, and the balloon did tend to spin and turn a bit, so that assisted in seeing everything as well. :) Happy Travels!

We had 2 sharks about 6-10 feet from us once at CocoCay. They were about 6 feet long, sand sharks. I just stayed on my raft and told my husband, ever man for himself..lol...

Hi Max! Personally, we wouldn’t recommend it. Royal explicitly forbids the use of drones at CoCoCay. When we were last there, Royal themselves were using a drone to film, and they cleared out the surrounding area as a safety precaution. It seems to be something they take pretty seriously! :) Happy Travels!
