This recipe makes the most delicious birria tacos. I mixed the broth from the jar with home canned enchilada sauce (made from dried chilies) to make the "dipping" sauce for the fried beef tacos. The tacos were quick and easy to make using my pantry.

You're awesome! Thanks for the video. I'm getting ready for rush meals for the grandkids. My daughter and her family are moving to the farm not to far away from us(our former big farmhouse) and she laughingly told me she's looking forward to calling to say "we stopping on the way home, Meema, just leaving town). I stared that sweetie and the eye and asked her if she really thought that would upset me. She looked at little shocked! I'm canning things up so I can toss them together to feed them! This one looks perfect for that!

Hi Carter! This cookbook arrived last week and it seems to have some really good recipes. I can’t wait to try this one out, although it won’t be a very long wait. Today I went to Costco (what a zoo, you’d think it was close to Thanksgiving) and spent my annual Costco reward check on nothing but beef, which included about 9.5 pounds of beef stew meat, 6 pounds of boneless pork top loin chops, and two packages of USDA Prime New York and Ribeye steaks and a sockeye salmon fillet. We’re doing beef instead of turkey this year as we’re alone this time around. Not really a big fan of turkey. Anyhow, yeah, this recipe is scheduled for either tomorrow or the next day, but I’m really looking forward to it. I agree with the method you chose to get this packed and canned as it makes more sense than what she did in the book. Also, I think the marinade would reach the meat better when added to both the bottom of the jar and then to the top of the beef like you did. Can’t wait, and thanks for mentioning her book. Have a great Thanksgiving! 👍

It's always so interesting to hear how things are done elsewhere. What would you use instead of a tortilla for a dish like this? I had a favorite South African restaurant when we lived in Atlanta. Ridiculously good food. I'm trying to remember if there were any handheld items on the menu other than the spring roll appetizers. Now you have me thinking about Bobotie and Peri Peri chicken spring rolls! I think I need to make Bobotie with one of my chutneys. Wish you were here to cook with me!
