We had a wonderful experience with upack. This video tells the story of how the trailer was delivered to our house, and it being delivered to our homestead.

wow, such a nice driver making sure the ramp was the right distace from the garage door and adjusting the ramp for you. Also showing you how to set up the bulkhead. Our driver was absolute dogshit, he just parked the trailer and drove off without making sure if the ramp was the correct distance away from the garage door and not showing us how to set up the bulk head. The ramp ended up being like 2 feet into our garage, pain in the ass to load stuff cuz the ramp was in the garage. :(

How much was it for them to store it for you?

Did they load the heavy stuff, like sofas and beds? Or did you have to do it all? I don't want to do it all.

I've rented one for my move. Thanks for vid. Now I know what to expect. Did you find the bulkhead to be hard to manage? Why did you reload everything in a shipping container?🤔
@wiregrasshomestead9161
@wiregrasshomestead9161 6 жыл бұрын
I thought the bulkhead would be difficult but it really wasn't. And, the delivery guy said that the pick up guy will check the bulkhead and reinstall it if necessary so I'm sure you could leave the bulkhead off and your pick up guy will fix it for you if you let him know when he comes to pick it up. We loaded everything into a shipping container upon delivery for storage purposes. At that time we did not live on our property full-time and did not have our house built so this allowed us to store our household goods until the house was finished.

hi, just wondering did you rent a truck successfully? I'm kind of skeptical of this service.... I really need to know, thanks!

@Naz, I am a truck driver although flatbed now and haven't pulled a box since 2010, 95% of drivers are very trustworthy people. No matter what is being shipped be it private furniture to bulk goods for major corporations, we typically in most cases don't have to touch the load other than to secure it but many people in furniture moving don't know how to load the truck correctly resulting in uneven side to side weight and poor weight distribution from front to back plus not packing in tight to prevent things from falling over or moving around and these things do put us drivers on edge because it's a safety concern be it the truck leaning to one side or even for the customer on the receiving end as heavy objects could be fall upon removing the bulk heads. Instead of pad locks on the bulk heads you could replace them with cable seals which all have a unique number and they can be filed on the bill of lading as well as the seal on the door with a pad lock to prevent tampering and theft. Theft is highly unlikely but if it does happen, it's from the truck/trailer being left standing in a very area (usually cities). It is very safe and ABF has all of their trucks governed to 62-63 mph p,us they are like any trucking company, fully insured and all drivers working for big companies and put through vigorous background checks plus most companies want drivers with squeaky clean records. It's moving companies that have hired help to load and unload are the ones you have to keep and eye on for sticky fingers because a lot of the labors are typically hired out from temp agencies and tend to have record sheets.

I am going to use them to move in October. What I'm wondering is..their website says the truck needs to be parked on a firm surface. Yet, I see this trailer being left on grass. My stuff will be in two storage lockers. Right across from my lockers are where the storeage area parks trailers and boats. It's grass. Did you have any problems with that? Thank you.

Many thanks! We have reserved a trailer for our move next month. I didn't see ... where is the ramp stored? Not inside the trailer, taking up space, I assume?

Our trailer just arrived 2 hours ago. The ramp is actually stored inside the trailer and it does take up some space :/… and the ramp also feels really unstable…it moved a bit when we were pulling up the dolly with three boxes on it and really scared us! Now we only pull up two boxes at a time max

@wiregrasshomestead9161
@wiregrasshomestead9161 6 жыл бұрын
I don't believe they have smaller trailers. This was a 28 foot trailer so it does take up a bit of space in the driveway. But the good news is you only pay for the amount of space you actually use. The cubes are pretty small as we looked into those before booking the trailer. I guess if you could get several cubes that might work, but I still think the trailer is the way to go.
@charlesisbell4340

these are the smallest trailers they make. Next size down would be a rental truck Uhaul/Ryder/Pendle etc which are usually 26' and smaller.

Is there a lock on the inside, or only on the outside?
@wiregrasshomestead9161
@wiregrasshomestead9161 5 жыл бұрын
There is a bulkhead that you install on the inside (kind of like a wall) at the end of your stuff and you can your own lock on that. The lock on the outside belongs to the trucking company. So, the trucking company can get into the trailer to add more items if there is space, but your items are locked behind the bulkhead /wall and remains secure.

We were quoted around $2500 for 11 feet of the trailer, then $150 per foot beyond that. But the other comment was correct - you only pay for what you use. They will add or subtract from the base fee. Our trailer comes tomorrow for a CT to FL move. We did a lot of research and this was the least expensive and had best reviews.

@charlesisbell4340
@charlesisbell4340 2 жыл бұрын
There is no one set price as rates are constantly changing. You may call to get a quote one month and call back in a few months and get a completely different rate. There are a lot of variables including the price of fuel and the state of the economy that dictates rates.
