Chinatown was pretty good. Definitely an homage to the golden age of Hollywood. If she loves Point Break then get it!!! 😆 Yeah lots of content out right now on Criterion. What do you have your eyeballs on sir?

@@Holland_Oates off the top of my head - Blue Velvet 4k, Bound 4K, don’t look now 4K. But I know I’ll want a handful of others as well

There is no sequel to Chinatown 😉. Just kidding, Derek, you probably know by now that Robert Towne, who wrote the Oscar-winning screenplay for it, passed away yesterday at the age of 89. Like Butch Cassidy and Casablanca, I hope you rewatch it and love it. I knew I did when I first watched it and will watch it for its 50th anniversary. Such a film classic, shame it was going against The Godfather Part II. 😊

Chinatown is a big favorite of mine, so I appreciate your determination to "get" it. But why would seeing it on 4K make a difference in how you feel about the story or the acting or whatever it is that you don't get? I love the film on DVD and recently bought it on Blu-ray. The visuals are a little better, but, really, the DVD is excellent to look at. No complaints. I just felt like double-dipping because I love the film so much. A good example of a film that I don't get is No Country For Old Men. Watched it twice on DVD and have no idea what all the fuss is about with this movie. I can't imagine that seeing it on Blu-ray of 4K is going to make a difference. There are several films that I disliked or even hated on first viewing. Example: Leaving Las Vegas. Years later I watched it on DVD and really loved it. So, I understand how a second watch can sometimes produce a different reaction. I just don't see what 4K has to do with it. Or Blu-ray, for that matter. I admit to having a mental block against the whole push toward 4K. But the plot of a film either grabs you or it doesn't. Happy 4th of July. Please don't blow your head off playing around with fireworks.

@@grey1951 well that Chinatown 4K seems to be sold out everywhere and going for $100+ on eBay. So I probably won’t be getting it, as it’s nowhere to be found 😞. I like the packaging for it and that it comes with The Two Jake on Blu.
