I just started doing massage and work at a spa. I have to stay on time and dont feel I can help my clients with thier pain because I am being rushed. This is actually making me depressed. What can I do about it? Is there another type of massage therapy job that will take therapists with little experience but want to practice healing and not just rubbing lotion on people? That's what its been feeling like lately

I feel you. It's best to have your own clients.

What you can do at the spa is to use your time wisely. You can do the intake while you're walking them to your room and find out problem areas or the type of work they would like. Find out what they like and you can even figure out whats wrong by their posture and the way they walk. If they are in pain and you wanna help, do it within the time that you have. Explain things when they are on the bed or before you walk out the room. By intuition you'll know which ones are there for pain relief and those that just want to relax and be pampered. Hope this helps. There's also some spas that give you 15 min in between clients. I like those cus you don't have to rush like the 50 min ones back to back.

I chose to find a place to work that was not a spa(which I worked at and was not happy at all because of the reasons you listed and more), but a local massage therapy business that attracts all types of clients and offers all types of work including spa work but the majority is therapeutic work there. The spa work is a part of my practice, but I now see people who come to me with issues and we work together to resolve them, then when they are feeling well, and balanced, I include more spa work until issues come up or they tell me otherwise. I should also say I'm an Independent Contractor now, not an employee, which made a huge difference. I was able to change so much about how I spend my time, and who I see. Good luck, hope this helps.

I work as an independent contractor with Zeel and i also have my own private clientele. It's been going great with Zeel. Its pretty much like Uber but for massage and you work with an app and can set your availability and area. They also show if the client is female or male. It's been going well for me and i haven't had any issues. If you have spa experience they also send you to spas which is nice. This Sunday im working at the spa in Catalina island for 5 hours. Ill link a wellness provider invite below if anyone is interested 👇 Be a wellness provider on Zeel! Work where you want, when you want for the highest earnings in the industry. Receive requests for in-home, spa or corporate work. Respond to the requests that fit your schedule. zeel.com/invite/setapart
