Upcycle Old CD Drives into a 3D Printer (Part 4)

I know it's been a long time, but there's been a lot going on! But finally the fourth installment of the upcycle old CD-Drives into a 3D printer is here! And boy, is this a good one. We finally take the steps to making this contraption actually do something! Before the 3D printing starts, it's important to do a concept test, so I'm doing one using an pen (technically a marker) to see if we can draw a shape. So let's see what happens in this video!

You can use the teacup firmware to use an uno and have full control over all the motors and heaters etc. The only limit is the number of pins

You said the shield is for use with grbl verions older than 0.9, which means small/lower than 0.9, but the graphic on screen said "grbl > 0.9" which means bigger/greater than 0.9.

umm corrections... 1. you can uses the 4th stepper motor driver as an individual. It means you can use it to drive an extruder motor. 2. arduino uno have some adc pins. It means you can connect a thermistor to it. 3. cnc shield v3 had a spindle pin. thus you can use it to drive a hotend using an external mosfet. 4. cnc shield v3 had pins for x,y,z limit switches. 5. you can make a legit 3d printer using an arduino and cnc shield v3 using teacup firmware not grbl.

Great video, but you can get a ramps kit with lcd/sd support, mega, and drivers for like 23 bucks, Its what I used when I built a cd drive printer, and it works perfectly!

If you want to use the newest GRBL you can get the Arduino CNC Shield V3.51. It's designed to run on GRBL 1.1 By the way it's not DUE as in 'doodoo' but DUE more like in 'duet', except you don't pronounce the d as 'dyu' but as a d. So doo-eh where 'eh' sounds like the e from 'empty'.. Coming from Italian Uno being one and Due being two :)
