Instead of cutting off the cuffs, I leave them on as casing for a strip of elastic. It's so easy to make the cuffs fit snugly by just buttoning them, cutting a slit to feed the elastic through, then sewing the ends of the elastic together along with closing up the hole. Sherry, your talking about color blending was quite helpful. I like flannel a lot so thanks for this tutorial. So far I haven't bought new fabric, just use old clothes and garage sale finds.😊

Another adorable project. Using the colors in a print as your guide is brilliant suggestion. Why reinvent the wheel when a professional artist already picked the palette? Using those cuffs is really cute.

I absolutely love this project! It’s such a cute tunic. I have been buying flannel shirts, but wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with them. Now I know! I loved how you used the row of cuffs at the waist and the bottom! I really like the way that you blend colors. The pocket with elastic, was really cute!! Please do a video on a long denim jacket (like 3-4 inches past the knee). I’m trying to make one, but it’s hard! Lol

If you wanted to keep the skirt flare going toward the hem, can you do that using your patchwork method, or is it best to create the whole base first?
@SherryJonesDesigns3 ай бұрын
I think you can do it both ways. I started at the top so I didn't have to gather it in exact portions but either way would work fine and then you can make it as long as you want.

Another cute tunic! Loved learning all the cute ideas you used in this one :) I am a no pocket kinda gal so I actually like the idea of saying you'll add a pocket, or pockets, if requested. But that is just me and I could be the minority. The cuff idea at top and bottom is simply awesome. I have subscribed and will be watching faithfully. You are a pleasure to listen to also :))

It would have been cute to put a "patch" made out of that inspiration fabric. I love this project I use men's flannels shirts as light jackets around the house and during the spring and fall. I've found not only do men's shirt give me more room to layer the are thicker then women's. This gives me ideas what to do with the shirts to give them a more "girly" look, so I look a little less homeless lol
@SherryJonesDesigns24 күн бұрын
That's a great idea with the patch. I have someone who wants to buy another one if I make one. My struggle is to find reasonable priced flannels to work with. I agree with wearing the men's shirts, especially when layering and they sell the best too. I'm glad the video helped give you some ideas.

I always learn from your videos, thanks so much for all you do. I have a question about how you 'size' garments you then sell in your shop. If you start with a men's large shirt, for example, is the end result an XL woman's tunic? Or do you lay things flat and measure them against a standard size chart? It seems quite the challenge, so I'd appreciate any insight. Thanks Sherry! :)
@SherryJonesDesigns3 ай бұрын
I usually do both. If it was a L men's its a women's XL if it also fits in the charts measurements. You can find an print a size chart and then I just taped it to my wall for quick access and I always include the measurements of the garment in the listings so they can verify for themselves. One thing to never do is tell someone a garment will fit them. Let them make that decision for themselves and own their own decision.

My table is just an old sewing table. I pulled out the old machine, installed a board for my machine and then attached a door on hinges to the back of it for the table.

I don't usually wash them unless I want to show case raw seams or something. I pre-wash everything though before I sew it together and I don't smoke or let pets in my sewing area.
