Not completely sure. But I think the thing with the strainer was a type of bird feeder. The strainer part is so that the rain can go through and the seeds won't be sitting in a pool of water.

Wanted to share, you was saying your orbital sander makes swirl marks. I'm working on my second Black & Decker Mouse sander... My other one died. But not before making a cut off a noise while I was working on a project. I may have turned it back on to see if it would do it again. Shut it off real quick! I've had it so long I can't remember when I got it. Anyway, also like how it has the pointy top so you can get in those hard to reach places and overall it's small. Their pretty cheap too. If your clay is dry or stiff you can also add hand lotion! I find it works better than water, esp if you have a clay that tends to crack like the air dry Sculpty clay or the DEP clay when it starts to get dry! I noticed water makes those brands of clay crack more. It wasnt until I seen some tutorials from an artist that works mostly with clay that she said use hand lotion to restore the moisture in your clays....just put more than you normally would on your hands and then instead of rubbing it into your skin, you work it into the clay =)

If you have big gaps in a wood item and cant clamp it, the next better thing is to actually use sawdust (if you have any or can grab some from either someone you know that cuts a lot of wood, or save it the next time you cut pieces of wood with your saw, etc or ask a friend, etc and throw it in a baggy and hold onto it for future use!) and mix it with wood glue. Its much better to use for big gaps and you wont have to worry about it shrinking.

@@rodriguez30720 I live in an apartment and bought myself a spray paint tent from amazon for under $30, it protects everything around what you're spraying and it fits even in my tiny apartment! BEFORE that though, I used to use a Box, spray whatever inside the box and would also lay a LOT of newspaper flyers around or even packing paper or the brown craft paper from Dollar Tree (I believe they call it packing paper, its brown on a roll in their mailing section usually) or Ive even used gift wrap I got at the thrift shop in a LARGE roll of, but knew Id prob not use it on actually gifts bc its not great paper bc then who cares if youre using it for spray paint projects and tossing it, lol! In the nice weather, Ill get a either a shower curtain from Dollar Tree or their plastic paint covers, or even a Walmart bag cut open, then go outside and lay the plastic down in the driveway and spray it, then carefully carry everything back in! If you're looking to avoid using spray paint altogether, Id suggest Waverly chalk paint from Walmart, or even the Folk Art one from Amazn... as for varnish or base coats, I rarely use either. IF I use anything, because Im also an apartment dweller, I MAKE SURE its Water Base! That for me is the biggest thing bc of the smell and chemical factor. When spray painting, I just put the fan in the window backwards and so its blowing the air OUTSIDE, but I grew up smelling spray paint, lol, my dad does autobody and always worked on side jobs in his home garage and we'd go in and out of the garage and smell it, I still love that smell when Im there on weekends! Lol! But for stuff like that I use Waverly Matte varnish, its for their chalk paint, I dont use it often, as I seal ALL my chalk paint with wood wax. But if I am decoupaging and dont use mod podge, Ill use either that Waverly matte varnish & apply with a sponge brush, OR Ill use my waterbase polyurethane & apply with sponge brush. Other sealers I use are spray, like the Mod Podge sealers or Valspar or Rustoleum spray sealers. They have very little smell to them and spray so easily I just lay down newspaper and open the window. If Im afraid of color bleedthrough, I usually use a spray sealer, the same as mentioned previous bc again, the spray sealers bc they are pretty easy to use even in an apartment. I have seen others say they use Mod Podge as a sealer before laying down paint, but I never tried it as I honestly RARELY use a primer and never have a problem! Anyway, I hope this helps!
