I also love Paul Sellars and have built a workbench he did a video on how to make a few years back. It is also rock solid like your bench. Thanks so much for sharing your build. Very Nice job on the bench. If I may make a suggestion; Use 2 house door hinges for each leg & make 2 spreaders to fit tightly into notches in the bottom cross members of the legs. Screw them in. To fold it; roll on it's side, pull out spreaders, fold legs. If you need to disassemble; pull pins out of door hinge. I hope you have 3-4 strong people to help move it. lol Hope this helps. Thank you for sharing this with us.

I love your video, especially how you make sure everything is square and perfect! Just a tip for a future build or for someone reading this comment, but you could have made the legs foldable still like you originally wanted. All you had to do was make a support beam or two to go across like you did, but make it have a latch or have it slide into the bottom of the legs so you can either remove it or maybe have it fold on top of the legs when you make it flat. Just an idea. I still love it and will be using some of your ideas when I build my own work bench! Thanks!!!

Great job, laminating the top like that should keep it stable for years, if you regularly apply the decking oil. I really like the way you addressed each issue as it came up and saw your challenges as opportunities for invention. You have not seen your limited work area as an excuse not to get going and using hand planes is a really refreshing change from most power tool crazy woodworkers. Total respect for you getting stuff done and recycling! If I can add some feedback which is only meant to be constructive. KZbin, sound dial down the music a little and dial up your voice a lot, lets hear more of you :). Buy some waterstones and a honing guide to keep your plane blades and chisels sharp. I use 400 and 1000 grit. Keep applying the decking oil or whatever you have, but apply it generously all over all of the surfaces including the underside moisture will soak in from any untreated face. A random orbit sander will work much faster that the palm sander. Please, please, please buy some sturdy shoes or boots, please. If you drop something sharp or heavy on those toes you will be in trouble believe me. Really please. Well done and keep it up :)
@gggcreativeworkshop83423 жыл бұрын
Thank you John for your feedback. It's much appreciated! I was wondering if the music was too loud so I'll change the volume on my next video. I do have sharpening stones and will continue with the decking oil every few months. And I have already dropped many a heavy thing on my toes!!! But need to keep removing my shoes every time I go in the house for another tool, a pencil, a square... oh I forgot this and that.... you get the idea 🙂 my partner is always telling me to wear boots. I need slip on steel toes! Thanks again 👍
@ivancho5854 Жыл бұрын
@@gggcreativeworkshop8342 Slip on safety shoes? You should get a pair of wooden clogs! Seriously. In Holland they are rated by the government as safety shoes. Just get a plain pair and you can modify them to fit you like a glove. A spoon making knife may help. If they're too loud when you walk then rubbing matting can be glued to the sole. Next you can decorate them. Carve, paint or oil - your imagination is the limit! I was very impressed with your bench. All the best.
@Heseblesens3 жыл бұрын
Very nice workbench! Ten thumbs up! Sad that you don't have an indoor space for your woodworking but I guess better an outdoor space than no space 😉. The one good thing that fixed/solid casters provide that retractable ones does not is that you get the legs ends up from the ground so that they stay away from the wet. Hopefully those casters are rigid and does not move too much when you use the bench. Keep on being creative!
@gggcreativeworkshop83423 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes you're right, any space is better than no space... and on a nice day I wouldn't change it for the world. I love my roof top workshop. And yes, the castors go a long way to protect the end grain. Seven months later and the workbench is still rock solid I use it all the time 😁😁😁

I really enjoyed your video and it's a great build! I like making things with pallet wood as well, but I've never attempted anything like this. It looks like a really solid bench and very nicely finished as well. Before trying to remove nails from the chunky bits, I find that hitting the nails with a hammer a couple of times (as if I was trying to hammer them further down into the wood), makes it easier to pull them out with a pry bar (the flat type, same as the one that you used).
