@irhererOfLoL Yes, you can. It requires a bit of knowledge to know where everything is, but you can use the keyboard to find everything if need be. Just press the buttons and watch for movement, then you can use the mouse the next time around. I always drive the locomotives in expert mode, especially steam locomotives, without the new HUD interface and without automatic fireman. I do use the old MSTS style HUD, though, for when I'm not looking at the gauges in the cab.

@updaboodyhole2 its all on the left side they are all installed thats not the problem. I can't find them when I try to place them in the scenario editor, this is with all the asset boxes checked off. I can still use them in the scenarios they come with though.

you don't drive a train, you run it. (driving technically is controlled by the dispatcher and conductor lining switches)

what's with the alerter.....how to use it i keep goin' and it alerts,i click it the train stops i keep goin' and it alerts,i don't click it the train once again stops what's more problematic that the train doesn't even starts after stoping

@updaboodyhole2 Thanks for the reply. As of this writing, I've had TS2012 for a while now, and I love it! The only pet peeve of mine concerning the sim is the lack of free content, especially when it comes to american steam engines. I've got all the big names of steam on MSTS for free, but RW only has a small amount of u.s. steam, and all of it is relatively expensive! BTW, driving in expert mode isn't that hard, for all steam locos are similar in term of their control layout.

This video helped me on how to control your steam engine, do you possibly know how to operate the Black 5 by any changes? It probably is the same but that engine completely stalls on me with low speed, I don't know if the sim is different because I have Railworks 3, let me know if you have anything. Thank you.

can someone please help me? when i'm driving a steam locomotive it always starts to slow down after 15 mins or something and then it stops. i noticed that when this happens the steam usage is higher than the steam production. i guess i need to add coal to keep it running. is there anyway to do this? or is it something else that causes this problem?

I have the old Microsoft Train simulator at the present time, which Railworks is basically a re-hashed and improved version of, and I was wondering which sim you'd reccomend buying as a replacement for it: Trainz 2012 or Railworks 2 or 3? I'm a big steam fan, and I live driving using the cab controls, so which one would be best for me?

auto fireman was on whole the time but the problem was that i only used the regulator to drive. i played the steam locomotive tutorial in the game and there i discovered you need to use the reverser too to keep the balance between steam usage and production. but thanks anyways :)
