I am a train driver and I think this is hilarious, the 'bing' sound is actually the alerter, AWS (automatic warning system), it tells you if there is a yellow or red light up ahead, not just to tell you to look up haha, and you have three seconds to push the white button next to the horn, this train is very different to mine but basically the same.

@WhereTheVideoEnds Do you know why the DLC is always so expensive? It's because every single piece is built to a stupid amount of detail. There's loads of Freeware trains you can get but they are no where near as detailed as the Payware stuff. Plus most enthusiasts spend thousands of hours on this game so if it ends up costing only a few pence an hour even with all the DLC then it's still pretty good value for money. For some people it's a hobby, not a game. :)

Don't bring it up to full notch straight away because: 1. You could damage the engines 2. The wheels could slip 3. The passengers are expecting a nice, smooth and comfortable journey Also, HSTs don't usually stop at stations such as, West Drayton, Ivor or Taplow. They would usually stop at Reading, Didcot Parkway or Oxford. But if they travel on the oxford line, they usually miss out Didcot parkway, but in real life, HSTs call at Didcot Parkway if they are heading to Swansea or Bristol.

That's the DSD, AWS is an alarm hat goes off to alert you that you're approaching an amber and red signal! If green it just bings otherwise it requires a response!

The bells and stuff are warning systems. Green signals mean pass ahead. Red means stop here. The things on the tracks are part of the PTC system, I believe. Every bell I heard was about situational awareness. And when the train shut-down or went curvy? You had activated the PTC system, which then took over the train, put full brakes, and veered you out of harm's way. You know, after writing the above, I noticed how detailed this sim is.

So what? -there's thousands of dollar's worth of DLC and add-ons for Flightsim too. It's how this type of game works; one buys as much or as little extra content as one wants. I, for example, don't own any add-on steam locomotives, they're just not my thing. It's also not something which is supposed to be aquired in one go... it trickles as one aquires one or two items at a time during Steam Sales or such when one indulges oneself with some new content for the game. It's our spare time, our money and our perogative... if you don't see yourself enjoying the game, that's totally fine, but the amount of DLC as an argument for not trying it is a total non-starter, imnsho. Try it, running a train to time is trickier than it appears. Edit: heck, getting a train from the depot into a platform without screwing up is trickier than it appears, let alone driving it in service. ;)

The bing is the AWS (automatic warning system) bing is oncoming green signal. The other beep is yellow or double yellow (proceed with caution/preparation to stop) or red - STOP! If you don't reset AWS within three seconds the emergency brakes will be automatically applied. Exciting stuff eh?

That bing sound you just heard at 16:45 means that you're air pressure for your brakes just gave out. If this happens, Train Safety procedures require you to turn off all power for you're train. Of course, this doesen't work on a grade higher than 0.7%. if you're on a grade, safest thing to do is reverse you're train at FULL speed!
