I understand how frustrating it is having a family member who won’t help themselves. My dad is like that, he had a stroke and he doesn’t want to live with my mum anymore and she doesn’t want him there and he has mood swings and basically makes us all feel like everything we do is wrong. I’m in the middle of them all the time so I’ve lost myself as well. I’ve had enough too. I hope your feeling better ? I hope things get easier for you all. Sending love and hugs xx

Hi Marty thanks for updating us. You are going through the mill, really feel for you and can personally empathise as you know what I told you about dad and I having to care for mum when she was ill and dying. Luckily you have help from district nurses and family seem to be rallying round with shopping etc, we had none of that, just a district nurse twice a week who used to come for 10 minutes and fill a few things in on a chart, no practical help. We had to do everything for her. What they said about lifting, well dad had to lift mum out the bed several times a day to use commode, had to choice. The help in this country is one of two halves, some get it all and others get nothing. You have to be doing half a dozen things in one go, but that is caring for someone, you have no time to do anything else. We were let down badly and never forgotten it. Your step dad will just get lazier and the less he does more he will not want to do, he needs to step up to the plate and help his wife, what is wrong with the bloke. I have very bad health long term, but I helped look after mum, no question about it. He has got so used to being waited on, he needs a kick up the backside. Regards giving up and ending your life, I can empathize there, attempted it a few times myself and now am alone in the world, I think of it alot, but dont think would ever go through with it. Somehow we get through and find strength (dont know how though, but we seem to). I wish could be of some help to you my friend, you are dogged down by it all and also unnecessary things which step dad should be doing, I dont understand people like that, see what needs doing and cant be arsed, you'd think he'd want to help his wife, some people. You having Covid has been a big knock back you could've done without, it never rains but pours for some. Oh Marty I’m so sorry to hear this. You have been going through so much , bless you. I wish your stepdad would help you a lot more, what a selfish person he is. Please take care of yourself. I know exactly what you mean about telling your story in hospital so many times, they all tell you different things, I’ve been there as well and understand that completely. Hi Martin it’s so nice you have come on and spoke to us ,, I’m sorry you are going through the mill at the moment with one thing and another , please do not do anything stupid if you ever feel like that again take a deep breath and think of your Mum she needs you and she loves you as you know and please don’t do anything , I can fully understand how your feeling as it seems as though you are doing everything and it’s only so much you can do and now you’ve got COVID you need to try and I know it’s hard for me to say but please try and take some time for yourself your not well and just think your mum is getting help now and it’s so nice you have got help coming in 3 times a day to care for your mum that’s took a weight off your shoulders so your mum needs you and she needs you to be there if it’s only to sit and have a chat bless her .. Well I just can not believe your step dad I really can’t it’s disgusting on his part to call you for the little things that he could do for your mum when she’s ask him to .. I feel so much for you I really do Martin , I was my mums full time carer for 25 years until I lost her not so long ago and I’m lost without her but I felt that I done her proud all I done for her and I know it’s hard work but we do it because it’s our mum’s.. if you ever want to have a chat or even a rant you always welcome to on here .
