Mario, when I attempt to open the .bat file to edit the contents, my PC displays an alert that says "This app can't run on your PC." How do I get past this? I don't even see an "OpenWith" option for this file.

@MarioSundays You know how sometimes in life something appears simple, but then turns into a total nightmare? Well, that's what this is turning into for me. Since I couldn't find another way, I decided to download Sublime Text and follow along precisely with your tutorial. Here's where things stand right now. When I open the C4D R23 + RS 3.0.67 .bat file, R23 is still running RS 3.5.10. I've checked all the paths in both the .xml and .bat files and they are correct. Also, as I was saving the C4D 2023 + RS 3.5.10 .bat file in Sublime Text, it brought up an alert saying that I must buy Sublime Text for $99. This is really getting ridiculous. Is Sublime Text necessary? If not, what is the alternative? Do you offer consulting to help me get through these ongoing roadblocks?

Hey :D. No stress, let me see if I can help. So 1st of all you don't need Sublime. A .bat file is just a text file with a .bat extension so Wondows knows it can run it and try to read the code inside. So Notepad is enough. Btw I've never seen the Buy Sublime screen. In relation to running C4D with the right version of RS. Check if you have a version of RS in your C4D default plugins folder. Here: C:\Program Files\Maxon Cinema 4D R23\plugins or C:\Users\[USER]\AppData\Roaming\MAXON\Maxon Cinema 4D 2023_BCDB4759\plugins. If you do, delete it.

​@@MarioSundays Thank you so much for sticking with me through this! Means a lot! I located a version of RS in the C4D default plugins folder and deleted it. Now both R23+RS3.0.67 and 2023+RS3.5.10 are working properly. Hooray! This said, comparing the two versions side by side, 2023+RS3.5.10 runs much more slowly than R23+RS3.0.67. I especially notice this slow down when I make changes to materials. The changes take much longer to work their way over to the RenderView and the RenderView stays grainy a lot longer than in R23+RS3.0.67. I've communicated this issue with Adrian in the RS forums, but haven't found any solutions yet. If you know of any, please let me know. Otherwise, I'm reluctant to do much work in 2023+RS3.5.10.

@@msjphotographycom yeah I did notice that. One thing that helps is to lower the GPU memory from 90 to 70 in RS render settings, System tab.

Also make sure you use older NVidia drivers. My case 516.94

@@MarioSundays Thanks for your suggestions! I made the changes that you suggested above + made a few additional changes that were suggested by Rick Barrett. I've pasted his suggestions below... 1) In the Redshift tab of Preferences, change Material Previews to When Renderer is Idle 2) In the Node Editor tab of Preferences, disable Preview for New Nodes 3) If you’re editing a specific node, right-click the Preview tab in the Attribute Manager to hide it Following all changes, I ran a test related to using ShaderGraph materials in both 2023 and R23. In the test, I ran through the same set of operations in 2023 and R23 using the same material. Although my conclusion is far from scientific, R23 sent changes in materials to the RenderView nearly twice as fast as 2023. In addition to changes in materials happening much faster in R23, 2023's RenderView remained grainy a lot longer than R23. In regard to the Standard material in the Node UI of 2023, I did see some improvements after implementing your's and Rick's changes, but the lag is still extremely hard to tolerate after experiencing the joy of R23.

Mario, at 1:45 into the video, you open the "pathconfig.xml" file and it opens into a program that I'm not familiar with. When I double-click my "pathconfig.xml" file, it asks me what program I'd like to open it with. Can you please let me know what program I'm supposed to open this file with? Thanks.

I didn’t buy a license before, could I buy it not as expensive as it is now in the store. Can I buy a license for one month and then use it for a long time Like on your video?

Do you have a legit license? Try using the Redshift Licensing Tool.

Can you re-activate redshift license on the same machine after deactivating it by mistake? I re-installed my redshift and re-activated my legit code and it says activation successful, but Redshift won't run anymore on my R23.

@@cioffijuan No, it’s a version for manual installation. In a studio with multiple machines in a network for ex. would be time consuming, each time a reinstall or update is needed, to do it locally on each machine, so you can have this version on a central network drive and point each machine to it.

You have to create the .bat files. Just create a .txt file and rename it to .bat.

That might be because your windows is hiding the file extensions and your file is now named file.txt.bat?

I tried this method with many versions of Cinema, but I can't seem to add Redshift to it. I can't get it to show up in any versions. What am I doing wrong? I tried with r19 with it compatible RS version, same with R20, R21 and R23. I can't make it work. can you help?

Hey man, apologies, I missed your message. Make sure you follow the steps really carefully. Also make sure RS isn’t installed on another folder.

I got the download from the forum that you indicated BUT the file for Mac is a PKG file so its installation is different. Could you help me please? 😢
