Jordan..we live south of Houston. After Hurricane Harvey...there were acres and acres of debris all along the Gulf Coast...from the Louisiana border down to the Rio Grande.. I kept thinking about how much energy/power was stored up in all that material. More importantly, it represents people’s lives and memories. Our hearts go out to the people of beautiful Michigan. Good on you for documenting this disaster and putting it out there for future reference.

One thing that strikes me with each video you make is how beautiful an area this all took place in. It's going to be great to see it come back to its former glory in the next few years when the dams, lakes and especially the peoples way of life return to the way it was. As I said in your last video, I'd love to watch a ballgame at that beautiful site when that day comes!

Its a pity that water damaged belongings could be salvaged and reused. Thanks for the great coverage Jordan on documenting on this disaster. Only hope that this is a wake up call for all the other dams in the surrounding areas to keep their structures maintained and in good order.

Great job with the videos, my relatives that live on smallwood lake have mention that some of their neighbors on the lake with shallow water wells for their cabins, no longer have water due to lakes being lowered. I'm guessing that lowered the water table underground. Maybe the next time you head back up to secord, you can swing by the smallwood dam for pictures, I know that dam overflowed on the east end and their was heavy erosion on west side of turbine during the flood.

Sanford Pizza used to be Bigelow Drugs in the 70's & early 80's which changed the name to Sanford Family Pharmacy which moved in mid 90's across from former IGA grocery store. A decent portion of Sanford, Michigan is in the special flood hazard area and those areas must be rebuilt under the FEMA, NFIP rules and regulations based on base flood elevation (BFE) which is not where the water was but the 1% or 100 year flood level. Are the local officials enforcing the FEMA rules or is there just a rush to get things back to normal that they are ignoring the federal rules? In some areas, they may have to raise the height of the buildings and foundations must be flood-proofed which may include flood vents.
