I'm a year late but I appreciate you posting these videos. These are issues that almost all the big gun tubers fail to mention.
@jeffreytapfer5002 жыл бұрын
I’m thinking the problem is both the firing pin block issue and the fact that the bolt does not lock up when it interfaces the breach. I believe direct blow back, non locking bolts, have a history of bouncing off the breach face. Giving it that little bit of room for an out of battery detonation. HK UMP uses a counter weight in the bolt body to correct this issue.

Another safety concern: the thread protector in the muzzle device. It comes loose and it's really hard to see... The projectile can strike it. I just swapped the muzzle device out.

Thanks for the info, I was lucky enough to have one that worked correctly. Even with it working correctly, I decided to still get the Nexus Titanium Striker Block upgrade and have the old one as a spare. I’ll probably be moving to the upgraded bolt once that comes out.

As a gunsmith specializing in CZ, would you recommend the Evo Scorpion 3 plus Carbine ? Should I be concerned about buying one and having an out of battery discharge if I am using factory ammo and the CZ stock trigger ? Thanks.

I've got one with just over 500 rounds through it. Took it apart to clean it this afternoon and notice ware on the bottom of the bolt that actually peened the metal over on top of it pushing it down so even if it tryed to get it out it will not come out without sanding the edge and I don't bump fire or have a binary trigger.

How long did the process take and did they pay shipping both ways? I just noticed my 2 scorpions suffer from this same issue. I just want to get it fixed before something happens being they are both SBR’s.

Did you have to send the whole firearm back or just the bolt? If you had to send the whole firearm back did you need to take your after market parts off before hand? I have to send mine in but I've got a bunch of aftermarket stuff on it including the hb trigger spring kit. I really don't want to take all the stuff off of it but I don't want to loose it if I send it the way it is and I can't get ahold of anybody at CZ on the phone to actually talk to somebody. They were rather quick getting a shipping label out to me to send it in so they could look at it but as far as answering questions not so much. Thank you
@theuncouthtruth95512 жыл бұрын
I only had to send in the bolt. Some people didn’t send in anything, CZ just went ahead and shipped a replacement. I wouldn’t send in the whole gun. If the rep tries to get you to, just tell him the best you can do is send the bolt in but you already know what part you need so I would press them to just mail a new one and save the hassle
@chadkegley94582 жыл бұрын
@@theuncouthtruth9551 the metal around the safety plunger on mine has worn in such a way that the metal is actually peened on top of it so I couldn't get it out without removing metal. The email I got said I had to send the whole firearm in but I'm going to keep trying to get ahold of them over the phone so I can actually talk to some one instead of playing tag with emails lol. Thanks 👍

Im confident enough that I could fix it myself but would rather not void the warranty
@Aaron-zu3xn2 жыл бұрын
they felt the need to have the evidence if there was a major defect in which case they'd send you a different identical looking part and the defective one would be destroyed,out of battery is a major defect so they're kind of scared and blaming the user
@372HGS Жыл бұрын
No, think like a company that makes guns. They want to test fire it before sending it back. Yes they sell the parts online to repair this but when you request a repair RMA because your gun is damaged, how the hell do they know and trust that you did not do something to your gun.
@FreedomProvides Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info! Waiting on my scorpion to get back from warranty due to a small crack on the upper receiver after purchase. Contacted a company called Nexus firearms. They have a machined bolt with a harder material, and added a nickel boron coating to the surface area. They also have a replacement striker block as well. Looks like quality products, just not ready to spend $300 on the bolt alone. do you have any updates on the new block sent from CZ?
@theuncouthtruth9551 Жыл бұрын
It was in spec but I wound up getting one from nexus pin block as well. I also replaced the bolt entirely with the nexus bolt. DEFINITELY a superior bolt. I’ve put a few hundred rounds on it so far and no peen. Performs exactly as advertised. Though I’ll admit I wish CZ would have done that in the first place.

It can happen with out of spec cases not fully seating too.
@theuncouthtruth95512 жыл бұрын
Aluminum, reloaded, or out of spec ammo do have an issue on case splitting and may be a contributing factor but the ignition of the primer without seating is the function of the gun and not the ammo.
@pewsnob2 жыл бұрын
@@theuncouthtruth9551 I was saying that if a round isn’t fully seated and you have a scorpion that the firing pin block is malfunctioning it can cause the out of battery detonation too it’s not just caused by binary and rapid firing. I’ve done several write ups on this topic in scorpion Facebook groups over the past couple of years.

@@theuncouthtruth9551 I first learned of that point when someone was able to just barely hold the bolt open and was able to fire. People should definitely make sure to clean and lube the chamber and check the firing pin block every time they clean it as the firing pin block can wear out.

@chriscooper53952 жыл бұрын
@@fbarr8540 yeah. Had to send my Timney trigger back in and either returned it then or sold it. These have an issue if firing out of battery anyway. It was interesting because it wasn't bump firing. It was more just failing to catch and letting the bolt slam fire. I sold the gun and got an MPX. Fixed it.
