Frankie Beverly (born Howard Beverly; December 6, 1946 - September 10, 2024) was an American singer, songwriter, and producer known primarily for his recordings with the soul and funk band Maze.[1] He formed Maze, originally called Raw Soul, in his hometown of Philadelphia in 1970. After moving to San Francisco and an introduction to Marvin Gaye, Maze later released nine Gold albums and create a large and devoted following. Beverly was the band's writer, producer, and lead singer. He was known for his distinctive smooth baritone voice and charismatic stage presence.

I've seen Frankie so many times and the anticipation of waiting for him to hit the stage was off the charts for me everytime. Im a die hard fan, I don't listen to Joy and Pain, Happy Feelings and all the songs that were played on the radio. I Love them but I don't listen to them. My reason is because I have sooo many other Favorites by Frankie that never hit the Air Waves. He was my favorite and I'm so glad I'm left with the Beautiful memories of going to see him everytime he was in my area. He and Maze never disappointed. His was my favorite, SALUTE!!!♥️♥️

2002 Essence Festival. I was there. Steve was really funny that night. Steve introduced Frankie, "Y'all know who yall came to see, Frankie Beverly and Maze". The most beautiful thing was seeing that sea of black people bus-stopping to Maze! What an experience; also my first and only time catching Frankie live!
