Why has Frankie Beverly not talked to his former bandmates? This is crazy, and the new management should be fired. These talented men were very respectful, and thank you Roland Martin, for interviewing the iconic group Maze aka TMF. I like the new song. It sounds fantastic! God bless them, and everyone!🙏💜

Frankie Beverly is not who he use to be, it appears to me he is struggling right now. He never appears alone. A family member or two has appeared with him when accepting awards or being interviewed. He struggles to hold a note at times. It appears they maybe something else going on with him in the area of geriatrics.

It is painfully, EXCRUCIATINGLY obvious how the GREEDY, CONTROL-HUNGRY “new management” is the sole reason for the break up of this iconic and legendary band. These gentlemen were so respectful in their explanation to set the record straight and squash the rumors. JUBU and Roame hit the nail On the head when they mentioned the “chemistry” of this group. Their disappointment in the way they were ultimately mis-managed was palpable in this interview. “Bravo gentlemen!” Thank you for wanting to continue the MAZE legacy even without Frankie on the stage……because it shows he will always be in your hearts! ♥️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼♥️

The Guy's want to use the name. The name is, the brand. It's recognized. TMF is not. TMF come to town, people don't recognize that name. Can't sell tickets. Frankie's ready to retire and he should. Let the band retain the name, play your tours, give Frankie a cut of the proceeds, cut loose the current management, problem solved.

Amen, but it’s an intellectual property, founded by Frankie Beverly himself, and for more than 50 year (1970) marketed into popularity as “Frankie Beverly & Maze” brand, apparently trademark owned individually by lead vocalist Frankie Beverly himself.. now at retirement turns to a new management for his personal, future business directions.. It appears non of the now ex-Maze musicians had any vested interest$ in the FB&M intellectual property.. however, numerous band member past and present had major creative involvement with recording of 9-studio albums between 1977-1993.. as pointed out here, it was a unit effort when it came to song writing, overall musical production, both in studio and in the live performances… but no percentage ownership of FB&M band name.. so clearly didn’t read or understand the contract, b/c no insensitive or benefit, just a pay check no matter how good, loyalty, longevity… simply you can keep your job, but as musician contract worker🤔 Look at the Motown legendary “Temptations” its trademark owner Otis Williams, he is last original living member, now for years has allow at the same time many traveling “Temptations” cover bands too use the name worldwide, who perform the Temp’s songs, made famous in 1960s 70s by the classic five and a couple of lead replacements.. at end of the day, as here, it’s an individual band member who owns this business. Its sad what has happened to all these brilliant ex Maze musicians, once part of one of the few live instrument performing ole school iconic RnB soul funk bands, from an era of real quality music. Wishing TMF “The Music Forever” all the best and support💯 like RM here, and in all media forms.. need a Breakfast Club visit, sure to inform millions, promo TMF efforts 💯🎶🖤

@@julslatt6294 Most likely the reason they changed their name to the The Music Factory. The real test will come at the concerts. How many Maze songs will they be allow to sing? I went to to see Larry Grahm years ago and he only played Sly and the Family Stone songs. The audience kept suggesting Grahm Central Station music but we didn't get any. It turns out Larry Grahm didn't leave Warner Brothers on the best of terms. Warner Brothers owned the catalogue and he couldn't play any of GCS music.

Excellent show!!!Frankie seemed to be enjoying himself and was very gracious. He did seem a little weak, but that didn’t stop him from giving his all. He just had to show up and we took it from there. The band was fire 🔥 but I still miss the rest of the family 😔I pray they get the whole family back together because they ( in my heart) were missed. I’ve seen Maze and Frankie in concert from 1977 when I was a freshman in college, to this recent concert and there was always an original member on his side. I pray there’s some resolution before Frankie decides to retire. I’d love to see one more concert with Roame, Jubu, and Bear happily by Frankie’s side 😔☮️🩷🙏🏿🙏🏿Frankie, my ♐️brother😂😂

How is there no communication between Frankie and any member of the band. Management is not that powerful. Frankie is a grown man. There's a lot more to this story. Truth is Frankie memory is not good. I’m saying this from the conversations I’ve had with him when the band was together. I’m a nurse and I can’t give medical diagnosis but I’ve cared for many people with the same issues I noticed in our conversation. Frankie would ask me about my son, his college etc. but would continue to ask me the same questions within the same hour and when I would speak to him again, he would ask the same questions. His short term memory was extremely bad. His long term memory was good so him not having these guys is horrible. I feel the new management is the one in the wrong.

I wasn't aware of the breakup... it's a shame, but you can't disregard the REST of the band that's been there more than 20 years. And I've listened and bought albums, 8-tracks [what about that 1980 "Live in New Orleans?!? The BEST], cassettes, et. al. through the years. I love Frankie Beverly; they sang for an event in Washington Park [Chgo.] in the late 90s. BUT - when there's a BAND, it's a BAND. You can't interfere w/these brothers deciding to continue their music. And I wish them much success in this Phase II of their journey. AND, BTW -- Early Happy Birthday, Roland. I'm right behind you!

Hmm…I don’t like this. If Roam and Frankie fell out, they decided to split and tour with the name separately then okay. They are a part of the original group. These new people coming in and riding off that name and those songs. I’m not feeling that. Even though Frankie doesn’t sound the same anymore I still don’t like the others riding off the groups previous success and name. Stay in the background and let Roam take front and center. Thank you Roland for sharing the story. At least we have some clarity.

Frankie doesn’t need to be able to sing. When you go to a Maze concert, it’s all about that Happy Feeling. The music takes you to a place where you forget the rest of the world and just remember the first time you heard that silky voice and where the music took you. It still takes me there. I never missed a concert when Maze came to town. It’s a whole vibe. I’ve still got the towel he threw when he performed on the Tom Joyner Cruise twenty-five years ago, If we’re going to be honest, we’ve been singing over Frankie way before he lost his voice. We were just glad to be there, living and loving as ONE! Frankie Beverly and MAZE forever! Don’t stop that loving feeling.

I'm not going to even lie, this almost made me cry to watch this interview. Maze has always been my favorite band, but as much as I love Frankie I do not want to see that other band with him. These guys are the backbone of Frankie Beverly and Maze because Frankie hasn't really sang for years. We (the crowd) sang all the songs and "this" band carried the show for Frankie. You can see and feel the hurt in these guys. Once again, money, greed and power has divided one of the greatest treasures of our time. Frankie is old and his health is obviously declining because a younger Frankie would never go for this. This really hurts me.

Jubu is my nephew. Started singing with his dad and me when he was about 9 years old. His musical accomplishments would make one of those shows we used to see when I was a kid, "Jubu Smith, this is your life." Frankie Beverly used to ride by my church every Sunday morning in Oakland in his white Bentley, and I would ask him to come join us for service, and every Sunday he would say "Next Week." Management teams have been the downfall of many bands/groups/organizations. Those type of management teams usually care only about the bottom line, and how much THEY can siphon into their contracts. I wish my nephew and TMF the best of future success.

As much as I have enjoyed your music over the years, I have always garnered as much pleasure from the instruments as I have from Frankie’s voice. And not too long ago, I am recalling that surgery (due to throat cancer?) almost completely destroyed his vocal ability. I attended a show you all performed at Chicago State University (around 2015) and the band actually carried him. We were disappointed over the lack of quality in his voice… but he couldn’t help it. I am looking forward to more of your great music.

Wow My Same Thoughts When I Seen Them In My City Of Vegas... I Told My Wife Frankie Beverly Don't Have To Sing He Can Just Sit Their In a Golden Chair...We The Audience Will Sing Like We Always Do Anyway @ a Maze Show & Let The Band Play...We Just Needed Him On Stage & We'll Do The Rest. So Good Luck To Maze On The Next Journey... I listened to this interview closely because I’ve been a huge fan since Raw Soul in Philly. They performed at splash parties at The Nile Swim Club (ya better ask somebody) in Yeadon, Pa. The Live in New Orleans album catapulted him and the band into the category of “must see live”! I’ve seen them perform many times in many different cities around the country. After watching this program , it’s clear that in the end, they fell victim to what many bands experience…the breakup (Temptations, Commadors to name 2). Granted Frankie hadn’t done new music for decades because he didn’t have to. Fans came so see him and sing along. Bassist Robin Duhe left years ago because he wanted to do new music. If they come to where I live now, I don’t know if I’d go see them. I stopped attending Frankie’s concerts due to his voice. Sadly nothing lasts forever.
