I got multiple, repeatable exposures of Instax film to work in an old Kodak camera. No Instax camera necessary!
This is an update to the first video: • How to use Instax film...
Also, I realize I should have used "-2" and "-1" for my exposure compensation notes, but I messed up. Oh well!

wow this is such a great job. I just got a kodak EK 100 but realised that it's missing the cartridge, therefore I'm maybe leaning towards making some kind of adapter to the instax mini cartridge. but it would be great if you could show a bit more of the cartridge, how the mechanism works and what the mesurements are. but thank you so much for showing this!

You convinced me. I just bought a Kodak 960L (folding Kodamatic instant camera) and a double pack of HS144-10 (the "high speed" film, one stop faster than the original PR-10, matches the camera) on eBay. I'm pretty sure I can at least get Instax Square to fit, probably Instax Wide (print size is close to the peel-off part of the Trimprint film i bought). By hook or by crook, I'll get it to work. Ideally, I'd like to 3D print an adapter insert to just plug the Instax pack into the Kodak camera, but the sheet inserts would be acceptable...

The light spots he talks about at 11:32 (in my experience) are caused by the rollers pressing too hard on the film, squeezing the chemicals too thinly over those spots

I’d love one of those 3D printed cartridge holders for my SX-70. Do you think maybe it would be better to try with instax square film since it’s a bit wider which means the white pick arm doesn’t have to be as long? And I also just realised the pick arm is on the opposite side isn’t it lmao.

I have found that Fuji instax films come in 4 sizes: mini (the one you're using), square, wide and FP-100C. The question is: would any of those other sizes work the same or better? I fact, the "wide" format has the same height as the mini but is 4.25 inches wide, while the square has the same witdh as the mini's height but is 2.83 inches wide (it would have to be places sideways, though). Additionally, the FP-100C are like a sideways Wide, but just a single millimeter short of width.

I just bought a kodak pleaser at a flea market and the person before me left an empty cartridge in there. my advice would be to go to flea markets and inspect the cameras before you buy. not only to see if a cartridge is left but also make sure the mechanisms work and to make sure there isn’t any corrosion in the battery compartment. Ik this is two years too late but I hope it helps lol

Polaroid has introduced in the market the "vintage" Polaroid camera, just like the 'old days' cam"; did you try already using their 'classic Polaroid Originals 600 film' (3.5" x 4.2") in those old instant cameras? l got recently from a relative his old Kodak EK160 instant camera and l am just making some researches on internet on how to use it and get the film: l found the batteries available for purchasing (as you also found on amazon) and your videos which are quite nice explaining how to fix those mini instant films in it. Before l buy a 120 British pound new 'vintage' Polaroid l would like to try to fit those new instant films available into my Kodak (as l learned from your videos); but there is this 'classic polaroid 600 film' and l was wondering whether you had tried already... Also, what about the inserted batteries?
@nicolehammer9156
@nicolehammer9156 5 жыл бұрын
Belbras I’ve tried the Polaroid originals 600 films with my Kodak ek 300 and unfortunately they don’t fit. I think in the original Kodak cassette is kind of a recess which the Polaroid cassettes don’t have. So the cassette doesn’t fit in to the mechanism which made me really depressed because the size seemed so perfect. But well yeah.. seems we have to figure out something different.

What might be causing the photo to come out flipped as horizontally?
@photochemicals7565
@photochemicals7565 7 жыл бұрын
It actually comes down to the differences in how Polaroid film and Kodak instant film / Instax film work, because they're a little different. Polaroid film is exposed from the front side and uses a mirror on the inside of the camera to flip the image so it will look correct. Kodak and Instax film is exposed from the back side of the film, and does not need a mirror, making the camera simpler and cheaper.

I will say, after a couple more tests, that darkening it for me hasn’t worked so well. It could be the camera I’m using (Kodak Partytime instant camera) but so far the best images have been on the no darken/lighten setting. Haven’t yet tried with lighten though.

Tristan Wilson yeah the square film is still a bit too small, I managed to get some of the actual film from the 80’s and I measured it against that, and it’s a bit shorter in both dimensions. Cause of that you do need inserts still. I played around. With just having some extensions, so plastic is only on the side, but that didn’t work either. His method with the inserts has worked best so far.
