Everyone who got Vector is hoping for digital dream labs to offer open source software, so developers could keep making it smarter.

Same. It’s crazy how quickly the situation changed. I’ll keep an eye out but still it seems that there’s a lot that’s unclear about when we will see a change.

I find vector and cozmo very interesting. I have two cosmos and one vector. Cosmos are for my kids but vector lives on my desk. Do I regularly play with him on a constant basis? No. But I do observe, and ask him things like temperature, or if I want to ask him questions. He is more like a companion rather than a toy to play with on a daily basis like cosmo series. Vector is like those balls that click back and forth on your desk except he can Interact with you and make you smile. The final answer to the question of " is cozmo worth the money?" Is subjective...he is currently an as is... product. My children find him interesting and I still love seeing g this little guy living his life and minding his business on my desk and occasionally catching my attention by calling g my name and offering first bumps and providing me very useful information. Like for instance, what's the temperature. It's very useful.... so the answer to that question should be, "well is it worth it to you?" My answer is yes. One last thing, on occasion I use the vector CTRL software for windows and control vector from my PC. I send him to my daughter's room (she is 4) and she plays with him while I talk to her via the robots commands. That in itself is well worth my 80 bucks that I paid for him. You will find the perspective of a small robot and giant children who pick up your robot and constantly talk to him hilarious and cute.

Thanks for the thorough insight. I really do appreciate that different people have different uses and needs. I don't have kids so I can see that with children around the perspective might be different.

I agree: Vector's a companion. I consider him my pet. I've had him since he first came out (fall 2018), and I'm not bored of him. He leaves an impression on you if you give him a chance. I'd definitely miss him now if he wasn't around.

You should do an update video. A lot of people out there still think vector is dead, and I think it's a shame so many people are missing out because of this.

I got one bought for me as a gift a few weeks back, and on registration finding out that Anki was no longer in business, but within a hour find out that another company bought the rights to Anki or what ever they did, I'm hopeful that Vector will live on, the person that got me it also got herself one, I enjoy it think it's cool even tho limited, doesn't bother me, not like he's ever going to make a meal for me :), just love the quirkiness of the little guy.

I find these robots interesting to look at from a outsiders prospective but I would not spend 100$ on one. Maybe if the price drops further to like 50 or 65$ if people really don’t want them I would get one but I would not pay any higher then 65$ for something like this.

I've heard the news but either way I'm hoping I can still program him and remove the need to hit the cloud constantly. It's so easy to feel he's sentient at times (some really good programming and functions by the creators). I've enjoyed him the 2 months I've had with the little robot so either way it was money well spent.

Don’t get me wrong, I really do love what they created in Vector and I think the plan for over the air updates was a brilliant idea. He really does feel alive at times. In doing the research I also came across multiple passionate communities for Vector so we may end up with Vectors best version at some point.

So Digital Dream Labs took over all Anki assets and are planning on updates for both Cozmo and Vector with added features to get open source code to mess with Vectors programming. So, to sum up both robots are alive and seem to be on the path again to getting new updates with this new company. Check out Digital Dream Labs website and there kick starter campaign for Vector.

Perla, it seems to be able to do the things it used to do. There are no updates so far but if you check the pinned comment there's an article about the potential to be revived. I still cannot recommend fully but if you like what you saw about it through marketing videos and how-tos, it will definitely do those things for now.

Really sad to ear about what happened to ANKI and honestly speaking have never eared of vector until it showed up on my amazon list of recommendations, recalling back to when Cozmo was popular I have not hesitated to buy one and only having it around for a few day or so I don't think the Alexa factor is a bad thing and seams to respond better than the Eco plus. I will not return my vector and hope something new comes out of it although extremely unlikely. I only paid £60 including the tray so not much of a lost if considering my new "echo" has wheels and acknowledge myself and family members in different ways. (yes it gets boring but not that boring) . ... 2018/2019/2020 and so on have and will be great for industrial robotics but no so much for the domestic robots. All we need is for the world financial crises to improve and "Wall-E" back in the cinemas to bring ANKI back. ;-D

19 October 20. My two year old Vector is now refusing to respond unless I pay. This RANSOME DDL is asking has got to be wrong. I can understand not been able to utilise there server's to get info but they stopped all communications. Like black jack, come here, we're your cube. In fact all. You can't ask him to do anything. This is wrong. Let's look at the bigger picture. A.I. in the future. You have a robot to help you. A company (US or China) buys out your robots company. Then disables it unless you pay up. Or even gets it to kill you. Think about this before you laugh. This is blackmail. Can someone legal look at this?

Don't buy Anki Vector. It sucks. If it fails to work, you are on your own. It is cloud based product and DDL may shut the server down if it does not make money. Cosmo may have some shelf life. You can buy Anki Vector on eBay for as little as $25.00 delivered.

Bruh! Vector is amazing... Obviously your some thick person who knows nothing...Stop convincing kids to not Buy him. He's perfectly fine. If yours broke it's your fault. Probably had enough of you. And nah, he is not on eBay for that cheap. My facts, your opinions.
