What really needs to happen in that small Alabama town is, investigators should drive thru with hidden cameras to prove they weren't breaking any laws, and cameras to record interactions if they get pulled over. Also to prove if they get pulled over outside the town's jurisdiction. There is another small, unincorporated town in Alabama where the entire police force was shut down due to overreach and mismanagement. Unfortunately for the citizens, the town is now overrun with criminals. I'm sure they wish for a legit police force, but not like the one before.

In U.S. as well. I once got stopped by a police officer I never found out why. He hit my car with his flashlight and yelled, where do you think you are going? He never asked for proof of insurance or car registration, or for my drivers license. He got back in his car and I got out of my car. I wanted his name and badge number. He peeled off. I drove home and called police. They came to my house and tried to convice me that even though he was dressed like a cop and had a cop car I was not stopped by a cop. He was a volunteer fire fighter who had access to the above clothing and car. They told me not to ever stop under those circumstances and just drive away as quickly as possible. They said there were no cops on patrol where this happened in Littleton Co. And because this cop did not ask for drivers license and proof of insurance and car registration he obviously was not one of theirs. And the dent in my car from flashlight hitting car, noting came off that. This was in the late 1990s.

Yes. I would share 100% of it with gruesome detail. If my child was wrongfully taken from me, I want everyone, ESPECIALLY those on the perpetrator's side to know the EXACT circumstances of the way my child was brutally murdered, dumped without grace into the wilderness, covered up by the murderer and his family, and him taking the coward's way out. I would tell everyone the exact colors of my child's corpse's skin as her flesh rotted away for weeks. I would tell them how many teeth have now been exposed due to the elements. I would tell them to picture the exact moment the life left her eyes as he beat and strangled her. And then I would ask...why the hell didn't Laundrie's parents SAY ANYTHING the minute he arrived back with HER van, WITHOUT HER????? Why did they completely ignore Gabby's family's attempts to contact them?? Maybe they would have found her body faster and maybe the Laundries wouldn't have even lost their son, too. I think once you literally murder someone, you or anyone who tried to help you cover it do not get ANY right to privacy anymore.

when i was a child in the 50's-60's in alabama, there were speed traps all along the way between jefferson county and the gulf coast where we vacationed, and there were even towns where police or deputies sometimes had long lines of cars pulled over to check tail lights, drivers' licenses, and probably just about anything else you could think of about the motorist and the car. my father was never the nicest or most patient person at the best of times, and whenever we got stopped in one of those lines or traps it would make a gruesome beginning to a horrific vacation. over the years those traps and such have decreased greatly, but obviously that stuff hasn't stopped.

From a child who’s had multiple step parents, the bio children showed up right before the parents died to make sure they were going to get their money. And they took care of them and was really nice to them so they could be in the will. And also I’ve never been in any wills and never been given the same kind of financial help not even close to the bio kids because I’m not a blood relative. I would have loved to help when they were sick, and I longed for a real parent relationship, but the bio kids just swooped in and shut me out. So really the stepparents are the ones that aren’t treating the stepchildren like their real children.

Well, when my Father needed help.. it took his first 4 children that were mistreated, never supported, not welcome by his second wife, to go in and take care of Dad. The other children he had with his 2nd wife knew nothing about taking care of a sick person. And they didn't want to. None of us 4 children expected a penny. Because of the remarks made over the years. We were cheated anyway. Dad wanted to die at home. His wife didn't want Hospice, bed, or us there.Too bad. Dad shaved every day of his life. We continue to shave him, even tho his wife hid his razors. Such nonsense. As for me, why would I expect any inheritance from a man that never bought me a coat, shoes, cared if I ate, sick.Abused me physically as a child. I ask God, Let there be Peace between me and my Father. I will do what is Right. That was my and my brother and sisters inheritance. His other children he gave everything to, underground pool, pay for College, nice clothes, nice house, always a new car or truck, they had great Christmas, tended to their kids, never a grandfather to other 4 children. His loss. The hated him, the little Church goers. I was Blessed with a wonderful step Dad, my Pop. Showed his Love. Was a wonderful grandpa too! All kids in family loved him !!!

I understand what you are talking about. It is very difficult to care for an aging parent! I am lucky to have my mom who will be 91 at the end of April. I do everything I can to help her even putting her needs over my own. You talked about stepchildren in biological children but my question is what about adopted children? I fall into that category. I am also an only child. What makes it even more difficult is I have a spinal cord injury in my neck so it limits the things I'm able to do. It's very frustrating! The most frustrating is I can't drive because I can't turn my neck or wear seat belt. America definitely needs to have support help for aging parents to help the child or children that are responsible for them. Again I am very lucky to have my mother she is a sound mind and through my help and a couple of family friends we got her through a heart attack without putting her in a nursing facility.

The people who run that Alabama town need to be jailed if they are overreaching and trying to monetize the law. The issue with step-kids and caregiving shouldn't be that surprising. People would like to believe that their divorces were "the best thing" and that the kids are fine with how everything happened. That's self-delusion. In most cases, the divorces make life harder on the kids and the step-parents are seen as part of the problem. While a parent is alive, an adult child of the family might help the couple out of love for that parent. When that parent is gone, the child isn't going to feel obligate to the step-parent. In the case of senior citizens marrying after their spouses have died, there's still not much connection to the step-parent. The step-parent may have been a part of the family for five or ten years, but for someone in his or her fifties or sixties dealing with parents in their seventies, eighties, or nineties, that five or ten years is nothing. If the step-parent really didn't connect to the adult children, the adult children aren't going to make an effort to take care of someone who just happened to be part of a parent's last few years of life.

Asked if his hotel had to be that far, whined about Brian wanting a breather...on and on.... Brian looked worn out, tired and grateful for that one night "breather". Gabby was trying to control where her boyfriend was going for the night. You people may see a victim but the moment they released that cop cam, I saw a controlling narcissist who whined her way out of handcuffs...

@Existing Rose and Gabby weren't even friends on social media, do you really believe they were friends at all? A co-worker who worked with them both said she saw NO signs of abuse. As for the "professionals" don't you find it interesting that they completely negated the fact that Gabby was trying to stay in control of Brian? And how many "victims" jump in the car with their "abusers" during a violent assault? Brian had the most injuries, not Gabby. People are just making excuses for her violence, there were RED flags everywhere. As for the police, they determined she was the aggressor, there's a 99 page investigative report that put blame on the cops for NOT arresting her for domestic violence.

@Existing AGAIN, as a survivor, would you jump in a van with your abuser during a violent assault? Ownership is irrelevant, "victims" don't care if their abuser leaves them on the moon during a violent assault. There was an independent witness at the co-op who physically waved down a cop and reported a female began slapping a male who was trying to put distance between the two. When Brian jumped in the van, he had BEEN trying to get away from Gabby when she climbed in behind him. This is what the news ISN'T telling you. He NEVER reported Brian hitting Gabby. What people are doing is making excuses for Gabby, none of us knows what happened behind closed doors, so you cannot assume the narrative. I can say for a fact these conclusions make no sense and there's no credible evidence of it being true. The popular narrative + lynch mobs + irrational hysterics...this is just a Salem Witch trial. People are being told what to think and feel, they are doing what they're told.

@Existing You can't charge people with a crime because someone gets played like a fiddle. Gabby was a grown woman. The cops had enough evidence to arrest Gabby for domestic violence. Period! Whatever additional details need to be argued should be done in a court, not the side of the road. The cops ignored protocol and allowed the suspect to walk. Simple truth.

@Existing Well, you certainly don't have a problem holding Brian accountable for his behavior, try doing that for Gabby...👌
