To sort of answer Khalyla's question, the DNA mutation is just at a higher risk because you guys share the same DNA. It's like that one royal family who had this blood clot defect/disease because all the cousins were marrying. You can probably Google this family, but pretty much every introductory Biology class talks about consanguineous (incest) relationships/how it effects genetics and that particular royal family. From a moral point of view, that relationship dynamic can be abusive. For example, when a boss of a company sleeps with someone, that's technically two adults consenting, but because the boss has the upper hand, they can easily manipulate that person because they have something over them. With parent/child, that same thing can happen. When it's family and the child is easily impressionable, the parent can just use their authority. Overall, it's fucking gross.

I think the biggest issue with with incest, other than the fact that it's disgusting, is the balance of power. Children, especially those who have been separated from their parents, seek love and nurturing. A lot of times, if they aren't getting those things, the child fills that void with things that are bad as long as those things give them short bursts of happiness. For example, a woman who has been abandoned by her father may develop "daddy issues". She may be attracted to toxic relationships and give men more power over her as long as they are showing her some sort of love. So, in the case of this article, the woman sought out her family looking for love and nurturing and she got that with her father. Whether she made the first move or he did, he still held the most power because he is the parent. Not only does incest go against biology, but it opens the doors to people being exploited and taken advantage of. It's similar to a boss putting their worker into a situation and that worker feeling that they must do it or they could lose their job. It gets even messier in an incestual relationship. In my case,I have the 2 genes but I married someone from another country, so no way can be related. I pass one geneticist and my wife passes a healthy gene. Now, my son has one bad gene and one good. If he passes the good gene to his child and his wife doesn’t have the bad gene, the cycle is broken. With incest, the cycle can’t be broke. My example is with just one bad gene. We all have a ton of bad genes and with incest, those start becoming dominant. You don’t want the majority of society to be running around with tons of bad dominant genes do you? Thus, the laws against incest. For people who study genetics, this is a no brainer.
