This is my first every foray into this vlogging thing. I'm calling this series projects forever because I've got projects... forever. Just going over my Beetle and doing some prep for an upcoming autocross.

26mm torsions are good all around. I had those on my 67 with a 2276 turbo and later a 2600 T4. The car planted and didn't wheel hop with my RLR roll bar. Nice car. I'm going to restore my 71 Super this year. It's been in my family since 71. It will get a 1911 T4 turbo

If you want a more tunable front suspension, you can swap to 944 front spindles, late super control arms, a mk1 rabbit front coil over, and reuse the early super strut bearing mount.

I believe all super beetles have irs rear suspension stock....which keeps tires vertical when raising or lowering ride hight ..unlike a swingarm rear....want one for my 1959... Running a 1967 van 1500 12 volt system,which according to my clymer manual had 53 hp...also got external oil filter and cooler,that I intend to cool with electric fan...plus a (6 point cage and seats and harness )soon... It only $ and time...

Nice job. I’m so glad you took the time to explain the 67 rear. Those are my favorite year! Most people skip over the fact that they are unique year compared to all other years. So thanks. Your on point with the oil temp gauge. I’m in Texas with 115-120 degree summer heat, external oil coolers are a no no here due to hose expansion and lowering oil pressure unless you hard line it. And down here most of us also run head temp gauge attached to #3 spark plug because as you know that is the hottest point under the hood. Mine is 1970 with a stroked 2074cc. And I’m sure I’m not fast but I also have very cold blowing r134 a/c in the car. And in summer heat it’s wonderful. PS find a convertible 67 deck lid if you really want vents.

73 super beetles are awesome and underrated. Funny because I have that Gene Berg shifter in my 57 oval rag. I’ll be doing a Subaru 2.5 L with legacy 5 speed in a 73 super after I retire in 2025. May kick off or revive my utube channel with it
They used to make a gear shift stick spacer about 3/4” thick that would shorten the shift throw. I had one on my old 68 VW fastback type III.

One would expect a 2332cc VW engine would have more than 140hp. It must be pushing 8.5 to 9.0 piston compression. Just a little F.Y.I. they still make the aviation version of the Volkswagen engine with liquid cooled heads for more power and a lot more engine life and durability.

i'm totally on board with the top line struts. 2.5" is their highest setting? not much suspension travel before bottoming out. i ordered their longer and stiffer baja springs along with the adjustable struts. i have yet to do the install. a project for next spring. they tell me no one has ordered both component sets for this combination. they think it will work. anyway, i enjoyed the vid.

How is it for daily driving? I'm looking for one of these, since my SuperBeetle still ran on cut springs and I wanted to have the ability of adjusting the height whenever I like

Hi, did you use adaptors for the 5-lug wheels, or Porsche-pattern brake hubs? I’m wondering because your front wheels sit perfectly inside the arches.
@Levibetz4 жыл бұрын
They're a custom drilled disc brake conversion. So that puts the mounting surface in the same place as stock. It's worth noting that I believe the 2 bolt style suspension is a little wider. But yeah, custom drilled brakes, they're pretty widely available.
@christyanfox1894 жыл бұрын
Ah, that’s a pity... I was hoping you’d used adaptors. Don’t get me wrong, I agree, that’s the best route (and I’m going that way myself), but on the 74 the hubs are said to be approx 20mm further out on each side, so my front Fuchs won’t fit as easily as yours and I’ll probably get tyre-rub, even with modest lowering.
@Levibetz4 жыл бұрын
Yeah man, I mean you can get widened or flared fenders for these things. You could also get some 928 7 slots, they have massive offset. They're also available wider. I have some for winter rollers in 16x7 and 16x8 and they clear. To fit those I run a 1.5" spacer. Or maybe it was 1.25? Something like that.
@baseballboi52306 жыл бұрын

@Levibetz3 жыл бұрын
'73 was a kind of in between year. It has the curved windshield and dash, hood, etc. But it has the earlier style blade mount bumpers. I modified my rear bumper further with a 1" drop and '67 decklid along with the '68 style taillights.
