You asked what I would like to see. I love mixed media and adding sticks, stones, shells or whatever kind of mixed media calls to me to create beautiful hand crafted forms. Thanks for your video and good luck moving forward.

I am just beginning on my basketry journey so anything goes for me. I have seen your work and love it. Can't wait for your classes even if they are above my capabilities as you and your work are an inspiration for me.

New to basket weaving (have been learning to coil pine needle baskets). I'm a visual learner and I need to see things done step by step (without hands in the way and given exact details) in order to be able to understand. Unfortunately reading, still photos, and hearing don't translate to my hands. So from the beginning, how long should pieces be for weavers? and for ribs? What's the best way to dry the different materials? What material can be used for weavers? and for ribs? How do I know when the materials have soaked long enough prior to working with them? What do I start with first? How do I calculate how much material to use? Then seeing the process in a project from beginning to end. I would love to be a part of a mentorship...if that is possible. Will be checking out more of your videos. God is good, you are an answer to my prayers. I've been praying for someone to help teach me the art of basketry. Finally, go DAWGS go! Awesome BRAVES!!...former Georgia girl living in Greensboro NC. Thanks

Shaping, foraging... identifying different types of vines beyond kudzu. Which trees have inner bark to salvage vs just outer bark. How to salvage both? I never got the plaiting in my brain in your class. Visually it just didn't click. I have taken week long with you at Arrowmont, but the weather had a cold snap, so we were unable to take the bark off the cut tree. I have also taken classes at your studio. Sorry you gave it up, but the Lord knows what you need to flourish. Caustic and free form not really my thing.

Hi Matt, I've been searching for an online tutorial on how to prepare bull kelp to be woven into a basket.. I was looking to purchase a basket, but can't find what I'm looking for. An oblong, rustic kelp basket (approx. 30") with the bulbs (floats) to use as a centerpiece for my kitchen island. I live in the PNW and constantly find kelp washing up on the beach- but have heard its quite a process to prepare it for weaving- requires boiling & bleaching, Any suggestions? Once I know how to process, I'd love to take an online class on how to weave. Thanks!

I am delighted to have recently found you online. live in corn country (Illinois) and I would love to learn to weave the endless supply of husks and silk that surround me. I'm new to your channel, so I'm not sure if you have ever featured or worked with cornhusks before. But since you asked, a video of you making cornhusk cordage and/or cornhusk baskets would top my wish list. Thanks for bringing such beauty to the world! I look forward to any future video classes you may offer.

I want to learn how to prepare my harvested materials so they don't go brittle or mouldy within months.

Matt, I harvested lots of kudzu, split and curled for storage. I also did so for grapevine. Unfortunately, I had to discard all of it because of bugs. I don't want to do all the work of harvesting at 68 with a bad back, and have to throw it out again. What is your experience and what did I do wrong, if anything. I also harvested bark, but due to a need to rush I did not roll it as I should have and lots curled inward, in the long direction. If I wet it, is it salvageable?

Thank you for sharing your journey with us. It is inspiring to see God’s work in your life. I am 56 and just starting the basket path. God is speaking to me about using natural resources found on our 30 acre property (His gifts). I am interested in gathering, prepping, and storing materials. Finishing the basket to make it look polished. Also, I absolutely love the encaustic wax and would like to know more about it. As far as marketing goes, how to find buyers and how to price. Thank you!
