Thanks! I'd read about that long ago on the forums. Found a cached copy of a post Ollek made that references them as a matched pair. Here's a screenshot of his comment: www.dropbox.com/s/80u2j2bk6ch5bem/Latch%20and%20Cylinder%20are%20matched%20pair.jpg?dl=0

I never knew of the conversion kit but fitting a later housing and filter and screen etc goes ok.

Yeah, I'm going to do the conversion at some point. Either with parts off a breaker or the David Brown Parts conversion. I just gotta wait until I can afford it. Either way it costs some money. For the short-term, a bit of solder was just lying around. 😄

Nice to see you channel growing 👍. If the filter has wasted 50 odd years why change it I always say oil and filter is cheap maintenance and I'm sure your change your oils regularly. I brought the same gasket for my filter housing maybe its just me but I thought it seemed a tadge to thick so i tend to use it for a template and use a thinner gauge gasket paper +the fact I like creating gaskets lol keep em coming throughly enjoy em

Yep, I'm changing the oil regularly. Same here, I like to make my own gaskets, but that paper I've got is just too thin. Thought about doubling it up, but that'd be more prone to leakage I think.
