UPDATE on surgeries! Penny, Jimmy and Josie have been such troopers!

Hey everyone! First off, thank you all so much for the kind and supportive comments! AND thank you for being here! Our pets are our family and its always scary to have any of them going through a procedure, especially one as extensive as Penny's. We really appreciate the love and prayers. Enjoy this update on Penny, Jimmy and Josie!

Cats hide their pain so well, no matter how carefully you are paying attention, it's often a condition has gotten very bad before they let you know. You're such a great pawrent.

I remember that happening with some of mine. You don't often know they're in pain, until they've been that way for a while, like weeks/months even, so it's very important to be very observant.

So true. One of mine regularly has bouts of cystitis bu recovers in a day or so on Metacam and Cystease. One Wednesday he had it and by the evening he was squatting but still trying to eat and be affectionate. By 4am he was yowling and in obvious major discomfort. I called a cab an took him to the emergency hospital in Canterbury (UK) 6 miles away. They said his bladder was full to the point of bursting and he was hours away from dying from kidney damage. He was immediately put on Methadone and given a catheter under GA. Thankfully 36 hours later (and £2,500) he is back home with 5 different meds. The vet said he would have been in terrible pain by the time I was aware.

JUDITH, good to hear about your teeth. I told PENNY about my teeth extraction, which is 2 days ago. I lost 9 teeth . I fully understand PENNY, she must have felt terrible, but she was brave. So I said to myself , be as brave as PENNY. And it helped. !!!!

Such great news Penny is no longer in pain and her and the pups bounced back so quickly after their surgeries. My absolute favorite parts of these videos is the licking sounds little Gracie makes. They are so dang adorable and spot on with Penny's tongue actions. You all are the Most adorable family

Thanks for the update. I loved seeing Jimmy and Josie running. Penny's brother Oliver is handsome like Penny is beautiful. Aw, Penny sleeping next to the dogs is so precious. Always nice to see Lily. The "I love you" back and forth between you and Penny is my favorite part.

Yes she really surprised me those first couple of days after surgery, she was so alert. Cats are pretty amazing!

Awww, so glad she's doing well. Being out of pain is the best! My Ollie really came into his own when his teeth were all removed. He loves to sing now, and he put back all the weight he lost when he could barely eat. It's amazing how fast and how well cats adjust. Ollie's favourite game is to play with the light pull in his Papa's office. Especially when he's on a zoom call with colleagues, and all they can hear is clack, clack, clack!

As I watch this, my cat is at the vet for cleaning and evaluation on his teeth! He’s nine and could be Penny’s brother, in looks. Between moving, the pandemic, fixing and vaccinating 3 rescue kittens, and recovering financially from all that’s happened; I haven’t had my two older cats’ teeth cleaned. Watching your videos made me realize I needed to get my babies to the vet. Today for Jinx and next week for Pixie Tickles; thank you for sharing and the motivation to do this for my babies health!!

Glad all the animals are doing well!!😻 My Starry girl had a full tooth extraction in 2019, she used to scream while she ate dry food, we thought she had a throat issue at first, once that was done she was back to normal and she began eating dry food soon after her surgery! She is now a happy 12 year old lady🐈

Wow! Penny looks great. I had never heard of stomatitis before. I'm glad she is no longer suffering the pain in her mouth. Cats really are good at disguising their pain. You guys are such caring and tuned in cat guardians--glad you followed up with her treatment. Love you guys.

Don't feel guilty about not being aware of Penny's pain. Cats are masters at hiding pain and by the time we realize something isn't right, they've been suffering for quite some time. If ONLY they could really talk to us and tell us when they are hurting!

My old girl (17) had genetically bad teeth and has had all teeth (but 3) out for a few years and she's been fine. So glad to hear Penny's doing so well! I am sad to hear Penny was hurting so much but please don't beat yourself up for not realizing it sooner. Cats are so good at hiding pain. It's clear you are a good cat parent and care deeply for your furry ones.

My Princess went in to have the rest of her teeth extracted. Her heart arrested during surgery! They got the broken roots out but not the full teeth. Thank you to her amazing veterinary tech monitering her, they caught it fast and she survived! Doctor said no more surgeries for her! I feel so special to still have her!
