Great update Paul! Really cool to see how the track plan evolved from just a staging yard, to this!
@HartfordWhalerАй бұрын
Thank you! Yes, it went from a plan of 2 storage tracks to essentially another division on the layout. Thanks for watching!

Radio Shack-now there’s a blast from the past! Enjoyable update, particularly the note about Hartford’s skyline. 👍

Hey Paul, another nice update for us, thanks. Your United Steel building came out quite nice sir!! The Hartford skyline will always bring back memories, too bad Hartford Civic Center isn't in there. Glad to see you added some "safety" bumpers on the end of the line. Keep the videos coming and stay safe.

Thank you! Yeah the skyline is sentimental. Got smart about adding the elevated fascia at the end to stop cars. After your first comment, I put painters tape on each track, but that was a bit sketchy.

I think having staging to interchange cars with the 'wider network' makes for much more fun switching, and your extension will make switching the industries much more realistic. It's starting to look really great and I'm looking forward to seeing it develop. My father was a commercial artist and he always told me to have an 'outline' so you can get a sense of the overall finished project. Your approach of getting the main industries built and then 'filling in' the details in between is, for me at least, the best approach. I use tile grout secured using diluted artist's matte medium for 'burying' my track. Some people use plain water, but I've found it sets like concrete (which is what it is!) if you use plain water.

I appreciate the comments! I like the idea of grout for my scrap yard. I’ll have to look into that. Thanks for watching and for the idea!

Neat RR signal...car hit it 😂😂...that's your story and your sticking to it 😊...like the switch stands...where in upstate did you live; I lived in Clifton Park, NY for 5yrs
@HartfordWhalerАй бұрын
Totally true. I pieced it back together with galvanized pipe. New ones were already installed and it was lying on the side of the road. Up by Syracuse. A bit in the sticks. Love the switch stands.

@@HartfordWhaler Another upstater chiming in here. I bet you can't figure out how to wire a bell sound to that signal 😜. I love giving you side projects to work on.

Extention coming along nicely Paul. Did you consider the Caboose Industries groundthrow with the indicators?
@HartfordWhalerАй бұрын
Thank you! I have, but I use a bamboo stick to move the switches don’t need the hand throws. I think the ones from CI are a bit bigger than Rix. Also, Rix are less expensive. Good idea though if anyone wants to use the ground throw to move the turnout. Thanks for the comments!
