It astonishes me when they read out her kids tested positive for drugs she continued to stare at the camera. I would literally hold my head in shame. The blood would rise from the bottom of my feet to my head. How can anyone be so cold 😖😔

I find it hard to believe that CPS would even consider placing two more children with a grandmother who already is raising three. That’s way more than the mother should have to take on even if she is suitable.

Bless Ms. Hollier. Some people work in the child abuse & neglect arena for too long, and start identifying sub-perfect parenting as reasons for removal; or move to terminate because the foster family is better situated than the natal family, even when the natal parents have remediated all the Department's concerns; or they start to treat every parent like they can't change and don't want to, before even meeting them for the first time. Ms. Hollier's encouraging tone, acknowledgement of the work Mom _has_ put in, and clear eye towards what is _supposed_ to be the goal of the Department: reunification, is so, so heartening.

​@@holdonC I'm not in the business, but I can answer for her. Absolutely. I'm from Huntington, WV. A few years ago it was the overdose capitol of the country. We saw a 200% increase in overdoses in one year. It continues to rise. It's insane.

TBH. If I felt that I didn’t deserve to lose custody of my kids or felt that they would be taken from me, I would likely run. I’ve watched enough of these to see that CPS case workers aren’t exactly trustworthy and often bend the rules or lie to make themselves look like the more believable person.

It's admirable that the mom takes responsibility and knows she should be punished, however, you CANNOT work services behind bars. Texas nails don't give two hoots about these services. Many which can be done online or in person only. You figure she would know after her first run-in with CPS. ALSO, I'm curious if anyone knows why CPS won't place these 2 babies with Grandma, yet but remove the other 3 if she's the managing conservator? Is it the age of the children? I've seen this in other cases as well. So...

I think I’ve become jaded…which is sad in itself…..but after watching so many of these situations I find it hard to deal with. When kids are drug from one place to another or one situation to another it drives me crazy. I know people go thru bad times and at times one or the other can be involved in possibly a DV situation….and some have trouble getting to the point of actually doing better…..I just feel bad for the kids….no matter the age. Some just go on and on.

I am jaded, as well. I watch these videos and I just know the parents are trying so hard to keep the kids so that they can sell them into white slavery when they are old enough. Some of the kids may actually be better off in slavery.

I really have NO sympathy for people who care more about their drugs than the welfare of their children. I could be wrong, but that gal's mother doesn't sound like someone I'd trust with kids either if she's an admitted pot user. Pot is not (in most cases) the only drug of choice, just the one that's considered least offensive.

Why do they always ask about Native American or Alaskan heritage in these hearings or why does someone say their great great grandfather was Native American? How is that relevant? I can’t imagine that would mean they get their kids back.

There is an agency that is specific to children with indigenous heritage. The Indian Child Welfare Act has to be involved when the child is a member of a tribe.

If a child is part of a tribe, or I guess if parents are indigenous, there's a specific department that is responsible for those children. ICWA the Indian Child Welfare Act is involved when children who have tribal ties are in CPS care. I have a case that involves ICWA and it's interesting how they collaborate. I'd love to see more cases involving them

If you or a close family member are registered with a tribe the state has to inform them. They usually don’t intervene but they like to be notified of a child from a tribe in state care.

All children in foster care have to be identified if the children are of Native Heritage. ICWA , Indian Children Welfare Act of 1968 requires this.
