bought a 2014 F800GT from a dealer in CA. 18K miles. After two rides, same thing. Took it back and they blamed me for putting washers on the battery terminals (I didn't even know where the battery is located, let alonee try to disassemble anything). So they cleaned connections and replaced the headlamp bulbs which also apparently blow out every time this happens. Now with new blown headlight bulbs, and the same problem, I am looking at trading it in for a new bike. So unfortunate, as I love the design of the F800GT. Almost perfect. But I just want to enjoy it, not fight with ignorant service departments every time I want to ride. Please update if anyone figures this out.

Is it a white F800GT? I only ask because one of my buddies just sold or traded his in, deciding to retire from riding. Also, it didn't happen to be the dealership in Roseville, did it? I prefer the one up in Chico.

I wouldn't trade a bike because of 1 guys attitude, I would 1st put a Written complaint in about the persons attitude and assumptions towards you

Just updated my video description. Replacing the regulator/rectifier seems to have corrected the problem.

Hi there, I see your post is a bit old, but can you remember what the problem was? Recently bought a F800GT and about two weeks started to do the same thing. Charged the battery again as it has lost some power and the bike would not start. Battery charged, bike starts perfectly. On my way home yesterday it did the same again, exactly what you describe in your post...

I updated the description to include my reply to another reply on here. Still haven't really found the source of the problem, but it's looking more like something in the can bus or computer, although I wouldn't rule out a broken wire somewhere. I may have missed a ground connection somewhere, but I did go through and unseat, clean, and re-seat All the ground connections I could find without taking the air box completely out.
My F800GT 2019 have the same dashboard problem. I changed the battery and the same thing. 😟

Hi. I’m having the same issue with my F800 GT. I was hoping someone had a solution but I’m guessing there’s no such luck.

Sorry, I'd updated the description with the solution I found, but upon reading it, it does appear a bit convoluted. Bottom line: I replaced the regulator/rectifier with a new one from Elektrosport & the problem has not come back.

could you elaborate? Just one word isn't quite enough for me to take to my local shop. Thanks!

I was kind of thinking it might be the same thing. At least it's on the outside of the bike, although the wiring into it is kind of a pain, I might replace it and see if the problem ever occurs again. It hasn't popped up in the last few months of riding back and forth to work.

So, how to solve the speedometer problem ?
@suprbst2 жыл бұрын
I cleaned and refreshed the ground connections I could find, unseated and reseated the connection to the computer under the seat, and disconnected the plug from the dash and reseated it. Seems like everything was working fine, but I did notice the dash cut out briefly while idling on a hot day. It held up with no problems throughout the Labor Day weekend ride with NorCal BMW Club... So I guess I wouldn't call it solved, because I don't actually know what the source of the problem is, but 99% of the time, it appears to be working normally.
