I started looking into this series a couple weeks ago. Excited to see where this goes, and what you run into. I’ve been looking into a 2uz block with 1UZ heads. Still researching all of that, but I’m here for the build!

Nice! 2UZ is awesome, and nice to have an iron block. I just wanted to save some weight and get the 6bolt mains. I’d def consider 2UZ heads, bigger valves 😎 but the 2UZ shim/bucket setup is nicer. Tough choice!

I'm in the process of swapping a 1UZ into an Isuzu VehiCross right now. I was in the same boat, bought the engine and many parts but the VX was still running good so I was in no hurry. Engine has now been pulled and I've got the 1UZ sitting in place. Still working on getting the motor mounts just right. I also have the same intake setup. Long way to go still but it's at least moving along now. Custom harness and Link G4 StormX.

Dude so rad! Love this channel love the truck. Have had 3 3rd gens always going for this build but went through the m all. Got the cleanest high mileage 01 Tacoma with the 2.7 and I’m gonna swap in a 1uz myself. So rad man!

I’m thinking about swapping my 3rd gen but I see all this information about autos and mine is 5 speed. I seen in the last video that you’re going with a 5 speed aswell. Do you know how much modifications you need to mate the transmission

Hey Cesar, the 5 speed route really simplifies things. No transmission ecu to worry about etc. You can use any R-Series manual transmission (also w series, but it’s weaker). Just need a 1uz:r series bell housing, and a clutch kit / adaptor setup from a place like XAT Racing

2001 base model tundra steel wheels. 4x 1st gen tundra spares will work too 👍🏼

Current plan is to build a r150F 5speed manual with Marlin parts. Should be fairly tough. The concerning part of that is the chain driven transfer case which may end up being the weakest link. It’ll be a temporary setup transmission-wise: Would love to eventually solid axle swap the truck and run an r151 with dual gear driven cases, passenger drop. But first just want to get things running here. Transmission has been a big struggle for me mentally. Would like to keep it all toyota if I can
