Changing your price up or down won't affect your listing in terms of how you'd be found in search, but it could change the way your products are perceived by shoppers. A price increase at the beginning of the year is normal for most Etsy shops, especially this year. It's also important to note that your shipping policies do matter in terms of your SEO. Does changing the quantity, affect the algorithm? Example I have it in 50 quantity then change to 35.

For this question, we have to give everyone's favorite answer, yes and no. Changing quantity itself doesn't have a direct effect because, at this point in time, it's not a good way to identify the potential success of an Etsy shop. For example, a digital SVG creator might have unlimited listings, while someone who makes one-of-a-kind items only has one. However, Etsy does like to see activity in your shop. So if they see sellers adding more inventory, it tends to be helpful because that indicates movement in a shop. Etsy doesn't tell us how they look for this or how much weight they place on it. But we know they like to see movement. Finally, if someone's quantity goes from 50 to 35 because they've sold 15 of those items, then those sales will absolutely have a positive effect on the algorithm. So changing quantity shouldn't directly affect the algorithm, but it may have an indirect effect.

Hi, does Marmalead flag up copyrighted keywords? I accidentally triggered off a listing deactivation and then payment reserve by using a keyword that I genuinely didn't know was copyright, so I really didn't see it coming. I know others have fallen foul of this with words like "fairy dust" and "velcro" - could totally imagine falling into the trap of using those words too as they're so commonplace in day to day language it's easy to forget they're 'taken'!

Thanks for the help! I have a question. I'm branching out into new products. My shop name is very specific to my current product set but not to what I'm expanding to. Should I change my shop name and if I do change, will it hurt me in the algorithm for my original products?

Thanks for watching our video!! I'd say there's no cut-and-dry answer to this question. Without knowing the name of your shop and what you sell, my general advice would be that if you have brand recognition built up around your shop name (i.e. changing your name would throw off some of your customer base) then I wouldn't change it. On the other hand, if you don't have much brand recognition and you're looking to make a new start for yourself with your expansion, I'd say it's something you could look into. With regard to SEO, you have listing scores that are based on listing performance and a shop score that takes a deeper look at shop performance. Neither of those things are directly affected by the name of your shop. The only thing that would make a difference for SEO is if you are using your shop name as a keyword in your listings. If that keyword is bringing you movement (as in people are finding you via searching the name of your shop on Etsy), then there's value in that. However, folks generally only do this when they have brand recognition because it's fairly rare for anyone to go to Etsy and type in a shop name directly when they're looking for something. More often, they use a product-based search term (i.e. mother's day jewelry or spider plant stand). So, not a cut and dry answer, but hopefully some guidelines that will help you make the best decision for you and your shop.
