I'm in a similar school of thought as you are. For a long time I've wondered whether I was losing out by not playing the miles game, or by not maximising the credit cards that I could have. I've also only just recently come to the conclusion that the miles game is not for me, nor bending my back over to support multiple credit cards for a miniscule return. It's so easy to get carried away seeing other people with 10 cards say "I use this credit card for this, I use that credit card for that" and wonder if you should be doing the same too. This video really helped provide some reassurance and perspective. Thank you for the very well-made video :)

Girl, what a well thought out video! For someone who has just moved back to SG snd is also trying to figure my way around the CCs available and what's best for my needs, this video was perfect. I only wish i had your financial savviness at a younger age! X

Same thoughts in CC approach. Very helpful!

Totally agree with your CC approach! Personally I prefer cashback too because my monthly spendings aren't a lot, and it's a more fuss-free experience compared to miles where you have to redeem from a particular airline, calculate how to maximize miles etc. Btw this is random but where did you get your earrings? They look great on you haha :)
@LisaAdultinginSingapore9 күн бұрын
yes i agree! i find the process of redemption confusing and so troublesome 😭😭 and thank you so much, my earrings from linjer! they make rly nice and simple good quality jewelry 🥰

What do u use/spend on dbs live fresh specifically? Easy to hit the necessary minimum $800 for maximum cashback ?

Why not UOB one or amaze?

i don’t use a UOB one account, and i don’t collect points/miles!

@@LisaAdultinginSingapore i'm using uob one cc paired with uob one acc. Think the interest is better than the dbs ecosystem. Uob one cc is cashback too!

How do you overcome the min spend for cash back credit cards? Usually I can’t hit the min sum for the cash back 😢
@LisaAdultinginSingapore9 күн бұрын
don’t force yourself to hit the min spend if you don’t already easy hit it with your regular spending habits & monthly expenses! go for a credit card with a no minimum spend instead, like the ones i mentioned. it’s much better to get less rewards than to risk overspending.

Dunno about you guys but I supp my card to my wife and parents who can’t give a damn about maximizing spending but downside is I count the expenses 😢

can i ask why you use dbs multiplier over somethign else like uob or ocbc 360?
@meowmaonie7 күн бұрын
Same question I have for Lisa, like if you have salary crediting, should we use ocbc 360/uob one or dbs multiplier?
@LisaAdultinginSingapore7 күн бұрын
i've been using dbs multiplier since i started working 5 years ago! all my sub-accounts (joint account with my mother, etc.), my credit card account (since i use dbs live fresh) and previously my study loan account was also under dbs. previously i didn't have much savings, so uob one and ocbc 360 didn't really make sense for me because i would earn MORE cashback from my credit card, compared to the bank interest from my savings in any of the other accounts. but now that i've amassed more savings, it might be worth looking into ocbc 360 or uob one! but there's also the hassle of updating my bank accounts, changing all my accounts to a new card, and also ordering a new supplementary card for my mother... hence why it's been easier to stick to my current existing system. but if the overall savings are greater with these accounts, i'll seriously consider!
