Fun tour! I think I have acquired almost as many pens in just this year! I have obviously been hooked! I began in January or February I think. 😂 I too am revisiting my pen cases to see what I bought, used, cleaned and put away! So, no buy for now. Use what I’ve already invested in this far! Happy New Year! Pam

I have seen this hobby compared to those that collect watches - it’s expensive and it’s beautiful pieces that are also functional but, I’ll say it again, it’s expensive! The best thing I did was provide myself a budget. I put $10 a week aside for new pens. If I don’t have the money then I don’t make the purchase (or I use my spending money)

@ fortunately, I don’t have credit cards at all! So anytime I buy it’s paid for immediately!

I think bringing out an entry level pen for your currently inked would be so great! I think you might find new favorite pens! I go through all of mine. My favorite ink and pen pairing will probably be in everyday rotation from now on. It is a cheap Platinum desk pen from Amazon (which is a snap cap and does not dry out) that is perfection with Platinum Carbon Black. I use my highlighters together with it when I am planning.

I included one in my January currently inked so I will try to do that each month!

Oh, thank you for this video! What a lovely tour and very helpful to as a newcomer! My first pen was a Lamy Sport, but alas, I’m a quad holder and it’s just uncomfortable. My second pen was a Kaweco Sport, love, love, love it. My latest is the Pilot Twist, excellent for a quad gripper, but so scratchy? Dry? I don’t know the right term… I got it in broad, 🤷♀️ I have a loop on order to see if the pen is damaged. Needless to say, back to my Sport. Thanks again and Happy New Year to you and yours! Hope you’re feeling better, too!

I’d be interested in your thoughts on a jinhao 82. The grip section is about the same size as a Kaweco sport and it’s a bit longer than the sport. Plus it is a MUCH less expensive one compared to a sailor (it’s a sailor knock off in terms of design).

I completely agree!! One thing I also consider is what my son would want passed down to him. He has already told me he loves the Nahvalur Christmas pen (he lit up when I first got it and asked if he could have it… and he was 11 so that was a quick no)

@@thejoyinpensandpaper890 yes you showed it, it looks straight vintage out of the 70’s! If you told me it was really from the 70’s barely ever used I’d have believed you. 😆

Thanks for sharing your collection. I love seeing collection videos and hearing how and why things were acquired. Semi related question: does your Kakimori nib ever feel loose in the holder? I have the same nib holder and lately my nib feels like it might fall out. I take the nib out to allow it to dry and I think that has caused it to get loose.
@thejoyinpensandpaper890Ай бұрын
Yes it did! I put a piece of washi tap on the nib and then inserted it into the holder and it’s back to being snug as a bug!
@FranM6179Ай бұрын
@ I will try that! Thanks.

I think you will love it! It’s very unicorn-esque! Did you get a little clip for the cap? (Not necessary but I’m interested in what color you may have selected)
@Ashley__Rose10 күн бұрын
@@thejoyinpensandpaper890 yes I did! So the seller is sending it with a regular silver clip, but I got a silver deluxe clip from Jet Pens. So I have 2 options now, and how I see it is an extra clip if I get another one down the road. 😂

My Sipliv dip pen from Amazon did the very same thing, and I used washi tape! I since then haven't been gravitating to it because of the loose part!
@thejoyinpensandpaper89028 күн бұрын
Did you find that the washi tape didn’t make it secure?
@dontbringmedown7028 күн бұрын
@thejoyinpensandpaper890 it worked pretty good, but when it came to washing it it bothered me.

I like my TWSBI for my shimmer inks, they handle it so well!
@thejoyinpensandpaper890Ай бұрын
TWSBI does handle a shimmer really well, even the EF nibs! I know many people choose not to put shimmer in their expensive pens

I don’t think I could get used to the pen clip where I write on the vanishing. I saw your comment on someone else’s ink review video, said your state (I won’t repeat) but I just wanted to say hi! We are in the same state! Are there ever any meetups that are welcoming for newbies?
@thejoyinpensandpaper89010 күн бұрын
Oh hey neighbor!!! Yes, there are! There is a Pen Show in the fall (typically in September) and the Pelikan Hub (sign up on the Pelikan website and you’ll receive emails as the date gets close regarding time and place). Also, I personally get together with two other KZbinrs less often than I’d like but every few months! Email me at behavingwellwitherin@gmail.com and I can let you know the next time we meet up in the event you live in the area! Welcome to the community!!

You have some beautiful additions to your collection. I also picked up an Esterbrook Model J in Violet. I replaced the nib with a vintage Waterman semi-flex nib; gives it that true vintage feel. Do you like the journaler nib?
@thejoyinpensandpaper890Ай бұрын
I think I do like the journaler nib, I used it for a month with a black ink to see the line variation and it was subtle but I loved it. I want to try it with a good shading ink to see what that looks like
