I have a clawfoot tub and shower combo, and I HIGHLY recommend it! Not only is it classy looking, but it's really convenient. Especially if you want children later in life, or if you need to bathe your dogs. I sit on a little footstool and having the tub raised about a foot makes baths way easier with my little kids!! Also, having the option for a bath if you're feeling sick, or stressed, or sore and just need a soak is really great!

I would kill for a soaked tub. It’s also great for guests. Most people don’t have the option at home, so it’s a great treat when I stay with someone who has a full tub

I have one too and I also highly recommend! It’s so cozy and convenient to have a big tub to soak in!! And there are plenty of creative solutions online to the curtain problem. I personally got one of those big wraparound curtains, cut a strip out where it needs to go around the faucet, and sewed velcro on the strips so I can close it up again to prevent leaks.

I definitely hate shower curtains in general so being surrounded by shower curtains is my nightmare - I vote go with the tub and put a shower in a different bathroom. I take bubble baths weekly and having a bath in a gorgeous bathroom is just perfection.

Your home has so much charm. I went with a friend to her aunts house when I was a girl. It looked so ordinary from the sidewalk, but when you stepped inside it had been done in pretty colors with beautiful furnishings perfectly suited to each spot and gorgeous window treatments and was truly a pleasure to just look around at while visiting. Your home has the same feel. We’ll done.

The updates you've done in 2022 versus 2021 really make the house look mature and refined. I love that you initially got to have a lot of fun with colorful floors, but seeing your new floors really elevates the space to a whole new level. And the wallpaper in your bedroom is very chic. Can't wait to see your new kitchen! And you're right: clawfoot tubs look cool, but that's about it -- they're a huge hassle, incredibly heavy, and pretty dangerous since you have to step so high to get in and out of them. A bathroom should be safe and functional above all else; beauty is second priority.

Definitely test your water pressure for a claw foot bath. Especially for an old house. They tend to be deeper than a normal bath and take longer to fill. Our water pressure is actually very good but the bath is so massive it takes so much longer than our old one to fill. To the point it nearly starts getting cold by the time it is full. So definitely look into that or into getting a smaller tub. Also I’m short so getting in and out is a bit gymnastics-y which is not ideal when you’re all wet and slippery!

I did wonder if getting a submersible aquarium heater (made for fish tanks) would make LONG baths much more comfortable?! They come in different sizes and are fairly reliable (normally come with a warranty)...... I live in an apt. & have a modern tub/shower combo. The tub part is USELESS ! I was not able to submerge my body & I am 5 foot 3 ! I use the tub for handwashing things & bathing the dog occasionally. I LONG for a clawfoot tub!

If you don't want the shower curtain, I recently saw someone had a claw foot tub set inside an oversized shower. Walls surrounding the tub with enough gap to clean. Still get in the tub to shower, but splashes would go to the shower walls, and it would drain onto the floor and down the shower drain.
@ferntella Жыл бұрын
If you or anyone in your home is a dedicated bath enthusiast, do the clawfoot. HOWEVER, if you think most people will still opt for the shower, just do a walk-in shower. I was so excited when I realized I had a bathtub in my place but in 3 years I have NEVER used the bath-tub. I always opt for a shower so I wish I had a walk-in shower rather than a bathtub I had to climb into. I had back and knee problems though so climbing into a tub may be more daunting for me than other people...

The best 'shower over bath' setup I've ever seen had a clear plastic shower curtain inside the tub with magnets to secure it to the tub sides (to stop it billowing and to prevent leaks/water splash), and a nice pretty fabric one outside for privacy and looks. The two curtains were attached so they moved together like one, and it looked really great. The magnets were amazing and kept the whole bathroom much more dry than I think it would have been otherwise.

My friend is a carpenter and she always yells at youtube videos (lol) when people discover the "original floors" and leave them exposed. They're actually the subfloor and would have had other flooring on top when the house was originally built, which is why your office is so much colder than your dining room. You're meant to have flooring over top of the sub floor to keep in heat/keep out cold and without it you get a very drafty, cold room. She did appreciate the pink floor in your bedroom though and we both agree that the wood floors you've slowly been putting in look gorgeous!

Great job! Each room has its own beautifully unique vibe and personality. A simple design technique when using lots of colors, is to take a dominant color from a room and incorporate it into adjacent rooms, that way, when walking from room to room, there is a little bit of the dominant color visible in the next room and so on. Hope that makes sense. Paint can be used, and also textiles, or other decorative items which match the dominant color in the previous space. For instance: the bright pumpkin color minimally added in the room adjacent, creates a cohesive visual flow. It’s all based on what we see as we walk from one space to another. Looking forward to the kitchen! ❤

re bathroom, one upgrade we made that i tell literally anyone who will listen: Epoxy grout! it doesn't get mouldy!!!! what a revelation. What sold me on the big shower was cleaning. I decided against a bath/raised bath because I HATE cleaning bathrooms. Scrubbing down a shower was a bazillion times more preferable than trying to clean around a big bathtub. Having small kids and no bath is a little annoying, but our shower is big enough that I can have a shower while kiddo is in the portable tub we have in the shower.
