From the USA SmartEX is an issue due to 3DS security. Tried all of our cards and they do not work. People said Amex works but we do not have that. So we are relying on purchasing from Narita JR office. Hopefully our trip goes well. We need Shinkansen from Shinigawa to Osaka. Flying into Narita at 8pm Tues the 26! Crossing fingers.

There are multiple types of shinkansen and some are a little faster than the others so there should be enough types and number of trains daily to get to your destination. Worst case is you will have to adjust your desired departure time.

@@Toshi-Guide-from-Japan I was really surprised that Chinese restaurants in Yokohama and Kobe Chinatown do not speak Chinese or English either. Anyways, I was able to understand the people’s body language and their tone of voice and luckily I learned some simple Japanese and got my way around in the subway and restaurants. People were very helpful even we couldn’t really communicate.

This guy over-sensationalises. Japan is ultra safe. These incidents are few and far between. And to discuss taxes together with scams. What exactly is a Japanese trying to do to tarnish Japan's reputation. He is very bad. Good luck to those who say they like his channel.
